Adding Farmhouse Spring Decor on a Budget

Embellish your home with spring decorations using these ideas for every living space. Affiliate links below.

Front Porch

  • Use a wreath
  • Add exterior flowers and greenery
  • Tall Planters
  • Faux Plants
  • Lanterns

Beginning with your front entry into your home is always the best place to start because it is what visitors will see first. A cozy front porch sets the expectation for the rest of your home to be just as welcoming.

Use a Wreath

Keep it simple by hanging up a floral wreath on your front door. A boxwood wreath is also nice, but colorful florals seem to emphasize that little touch of spring.

A tulip wreath is so bright and pretty with all of the faux flowers to greet you. And what a great size! You want a wreath that won't look too small or too overwhelming on your farmhouse porch.

Add Exterior Flowers and Greenery

Adding additional flowers or other greenery will bring more color to your porch space. Fresh flowers are always preferred, but the faux tulips in the silver bucket are called real touch tulips and they are amazing (get yours here). The faux mini trees are perfect for framing the front door.

Lanterns

Lanterns like these DIY lanterns are the best for exterior home decor. It's not too often that one isn't on my porch. These are great for containing smaller decorations you don't want to blow away or be destroyed by the elements.

 Entryway

  • Incorporate wood accents or farmhouse style furniture
  • Embellish flowers in vases
  • Hanging green wreath
  • Seasonal figurines
  • Adding bright pillows and throws

Wood Accents

An entry is fun to decorate when you have a console table for styling purposes. I love my farmhouse style entry table and all of the space it provides for decor. Wood furniture accents place more emphasis on the farmhouse theme. The reclaimed wood frame also serves this purpose.

Embellish Flowers in Vases

Instead of using flowers in traditional vases, try a rustic vase or glass bottles. Repurpose items from your kitchen like I did with my farmhouse style pitcher or other jars.

Hanging Green Wreath

Wreaths are not just for the exterior of your home! This lovely greenery is a great choice for a spring centerpiece. It looks amazing hanging from the weathered wood farmhouse frame.

Seasonal Figurines

Shop your home and pull out any figurines or small items that will add nicely to your seasonal decor. The little rabbits are perfect seasonal touches.

Bright Pillows and Throws

Swap out your original pillows and throws for something light and bright for spring. Farmhouse style loves anything white that opens up your space or creates the appearance of light.

Living Room

  • Use spring flowers like Cherry Blossoms
  • Pick a pastel color theme
  • Bird houses

A living room is a great introduction to your spring farmhouse decoration. Make sure it has very little clutter and open space. Decorate with a focus on wood elements and practicality. It is my favorite place to set the tone for spring season decor.

Tip: Designate your living room as the no kid zone, or the forbidden room according to my kids. This will help you have a space you can decorate, keep clean and not worry about little hands causing destruction.

Spring Florals

Incorporate a selection of spring flowers into your decor. For this particular arrangement I went with Cherry Blossoms. The color is an easy way to tie in to the chosen color palette. The flower centerpiece also draws attention to the wooden rustic farmhouse pieces.

Pastel Color Theme

Pick a light color theme that compliments a spring palette. While white paint is always a good choice for a farmhouse themed home, adding in a pastel color will help with decorating purposes and design accents. I used blush floral throw pillows and added a blush pink throw.

Bird Houses

I completed the farmhouse look with some of my favorite bird houses. The colors pop against the wood furniture.

Kitchen

  • Move your decor around
  • Bright flowers against a light backdrop
  • Style with light colored dishes

Moving Decor

Here's a tip for adding spring decor to your kitchen and dining room. You can use the same items in different rooms by making it interchangeable. Decorate with a tray or platform that can be easily moved then adjust back and forth for the space you are using.

Example: Move a decorated tray from your dining table to your kitchen counter whenever your table is in use. Farmhouse style dough bowls are a great option. This way you still have an easy decoration that rotates to where you need it.

Bright Flowers

Adding flowers with a bright color is nice for accenting against a light backdrop. In this pitcher, the light kitchen. The soft color palette is very clean, cozy and inviting.

Light Colored Dishware

Bring in light colors with bright or white colored dishes. These are ideal for creating a clean palette for spring. Have them out on display as shown in the wooden open shelving.

Family Room

  • Spring sign or artwork
  • Spring mantels

Spring Sign

Displaying a spring sign or piece of artwork is a fun way to showcase spring. In my family room I incorporated this beautiful sign from Oh Sweet Skye into my spring decor.  It says "a flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it, it just blooms".

Such a beautiful spring message! Style it with another DIY sign for added decor.

Spring Mantels

And don't forget to embellish your mantel with spring decorations if you have one! A rustic window frame, spring florals, and tall candlesticks are all good options.

Master Bedroom

  • Swap out bedding accents
  • Farmhouse style vases for flowers
  • Add a decorative tray

Swap Bedding

Instead of changing out your entire bedding collection, only swap out your bedding accents like decorative pillows and blankets at the end of your bed. Pillows and throws are a great way to change up master bedroom decor on a tight budget. Plus, they are perfect for creating a cozy farmhouse look that embraces style and simplicity.

Farmhouse Style Vases

Put spring flowers into a variety of vases. Simple wooden vases or jars that look more rustic will give you the farmhouse charm you are wanting.

Decorative Tray

Adding a decorative tray is one more simple way that is used often for creating elegant decor. Place it on the bed and fill it with small spring decor items. A few examples are candles, greenery, books, or dishes. This will add a touch of elegance that can be easily removed.

A tray can also be used in a guest bedroom. For guest use, throw in a vase with spring flowers and bathroom necessities like a towel, soap and lotion.
