Swap out bedding for a fresh new look that is updated and cozy.
Are you tired of looking at the same master bedroom decor day after day? Then it's time to update with some new farmhouse bedroom ideas. Home furnishings can be expensive, so the idea of making any changes to your farmhouse style decor may feel out of reach.
Updating your bedding is an easy and affordable way to quickly refresh your room into that modern farmhouse style you love with a few unique touches. With these farmhouse bedding ideas you can effortlessly achieve your desired look and feel for your master bedroom.
Farmhouse Bedding Style and Color
Knowing what style you like for your primary bedroom is ideal for creating a farmhouse design that you love. These great farmhouse bedding ideas will help you choose what will look best in your space.
Color
Whether you want to add a splash of color or keep it a neutral color palette, having a variety of sheets and duvet covers on hand is preferable. It's a great way to keep your bedrooms looking unique and inviting.
Colors can also reflect your mood and the theme you want to set for a bedroom. If a tranquil space is ideal after a stressful day of work, go with lighter hues that are neutral and soft. From subtle pastel shades to bold stripes, you can find a set to create the perfect farmhouse vibe for your bedroom.
Texture
Consider adding pillows or bedding with varying textures to break up the monotony of solids. Texture and classic patterns are optimal for creating unique style and a beautiful look.
Duvet Cover and Sheet Sets
You can find some gorgeous farmhouse bedding in whatever your preference, but I love duvet covers. A duvet cover is an easy style of bedding that allows you more flexibility to change it out. When it gets dirty from kids or animals, you can simply pull it off your comforter and throw it in the wash.
It's a great idea to have at least two sets of new bedding that you can alternate back and forth depending on warmer months, or personal style. My first farmhouse bedding set is a king size, grey and white striped duvet cover with the matching striped pillow shams.
For my sheets I chose a dark grey that has a slight chevron pattern in them. The sheet set came with a fitted sheet, a top sheet and 2 pillow covers.
I love the contrast between a striped duvet cover and the solid grey sheet set. The stripes add to the subtle farmhouse theme.
You can never go wrong with white bedding sets so for the second set I opted for a white duvet cover, adding a dash of color with the patterned striped sheets. I love the clean crisp look of the white with the striped sheets. Neutral colors combined with a subtle pattern are a great option to highlight the classic farmhouse styles in our home.
Throw Blanket for Farmhouse Bedding
You can't go wrong with a stylish throw blanket to accent your bed coverings. Throw blankets are very budget-friendly and can be used in a variety of settings, including with your bedroom decor. A throw blanket is a great addition for bringing in color, texture, pattern or for emphasizing a warm and inviting space.
Throw Pillows to Accent Farmhouse Bedding Ideas
Another fun way to change up your decor is with toss pillows. For this picture I changed out the throw pillows to all white and added a white throw. You might think using mostly white would look washed out, but in this case it makes the overall look stand out so much more.
Make sure to purchase pillow inserts and separate pillow shams so that you don't need to buy several pillows. This will easily save on cost if you are only replacing covers to go with your farmhouse bedding.
If you have all white pillows try adding in a colored pillow in the very front as a fun accent. These are my favorite pillow forms.
Other Farmhouse Bedding Ideas
Bed Skirt
Add more of a farmhouse look by changing up the bed skirt to something more classic farmhouse with a bit of a ruffle. Or you can opt for a straight edge that is more modern. If a bed skirt isn't your thing, just eliminate it.
Bed Frame
This may not be bedding per se, but changing up your bed frame can really alter the entire look of your bed. This is especially true if you want to go with a style that has a more rustic look versus a modern style. Update your bed by refinishing your frame or you can even build a reclaimed wood headboard.
Foot of the Bed
Change up the home decor at the foot of your farmhouse style bedding. My favorite way is to add a throw with a complimentary tray and a few home decorations. My step mom made me this throw. It is called the Nubbie Hubbie and you can find the pattern here. Or you can find a similar blanket here.
