Master Bedroom Design
Out of all the areas in your house, the master bedroom is the one place you want to have the room feel like a personal sanctuary. This is your own interior space where you can unwind and relax after a long day. The best way to achieve this ideal space is using a color scheme with neutral tones.
This is how our farmhouse bedroom looked before I gave it a makeover. The walls were a brownish gray color with the furniture and bedding accented in cream and off white hues. I opted to switch to a lighter color scheme with a dark accent color instead.
Charcoal Bedroom Ideas to Impress
Paint Colors
Picking the right color palette for your space is priority. I stuck with neutral tones that would provide a modern look while maintaining comfort as well as elegance. And finding the right shade of gray for the bedroom walls was a challenge. I wanted a soothing color so I opted for light gray walls instead of white walls .
The room is painted with Crushed Ice by Sherwin Williams and the moldings are Snowbound by Sherwin Williams.
Office Nook
This office nook is a beautiful small space in the bedroom. A lot of people opt for sitting areas to make the space feel more elegant, but I knew that I would get the most use out of a desk area. I won this desk made by Clint Harp at a Haven conference a few years ago. I love the rustic warm tones of the natural wood. It goes beautifully with the wood tones in our farmhouse hardwood floors.
I wanted to pull the lighter shades of gray over to this area so I snatched up this chair so everything was not accented in darker tones.
Charcoal Bedroom Ideas for Bed Area
This is the bed frame we were given for our wedding. It had a different look with wood and ornate metal rods. For our first refinishing project I took the metal off and refinished it white.
My kids picked at the bedroom furniture paint over time so I stripped it down and painted it with Peppercorn paint by Sherwin Williams. The dark gray features a beautiful charcoal tone that contrasts and pops against the light gray paint of the walls.
Bedding
This new bedding is from Linens and Hutch. A fun way to add visual interest to your bedding set is to get a neutral comforter then accent with colored sheets. In this case, I opted for a stripe design and I love how the different patterns look with the white bedding. Linens and Hutch's duvet cover and sheets are so soft. This is an excellent choice if you want to feel like you are sleeping in hotel sheets every night!
Fun throw pillows are the perfect accessory for making your bed look full. My friend at Paisley Pocket Design made me these pillows. The big ones are 26" x 26" and the white lace brings in so much fun texture. The smaller striped pillow compliments the sheets. Feather euro pillows are a popular choice for holding a better shape. Karate chop them on the top for an elegant pillow form.
Accent pieces like a blanket or throw are always a fun accessory to throw on top. It is a great way to bring in different colors to the rest of the room. My stepmom made this blanket for me and I love the texture and dark tones that this blanket adds to the overall design.
Rug Bedroom Ideas
Using a rug in your home decor is awesome for creating a warm space. Let's talk about this rug from Well Woven Rugs. It is the Mora Ivory traditional vintage rug. It has beautiful color variations in it. There is some white, cream, taupe, gray and charcoal. I love rugs with various shades of your color scheme because they pull everything together.
Versatile coloring like these soft whites and charcoals are very complimentary at bringing the wood tones together. I also love the vintage style of this rug. This design is ideal because it can easily hide dirt. Not to mention, this rug is super soft and well made!

Accessories for Charcoal Bedroom
When your bedding and furnishings are complete, don't forget to add in the small details. Choosing the right accessories to accent your room can make or break the style you are trying to achieve.
First up, this amazing "let's cuddle" sign from Currently Chic. My husband does love to cuddle, so when I saw this sign I knew we needed it. The quality of these signs is spectacular. The frame is wood and the main sign part is on baltic birch plywood so it is super durable as well! The dark colors ties in well with the deep charcoal of our bed frame.
The lamp was a garage sale find. It was an ugly yellow glass color, but I loved the textures so I snatched it up for $5 and gave it a facelift to tie in to the gray bedroom. You can shop my other accessories below.
This charcoal master bedroom turnout out exactly as I hoped it would. The space is bright and open with neutral colors and great contrasts.
