Giving Your Private Space the Luxury it Deserves
Want to learn how to create a luxury master bedroom with a sitting area? Do you want a perfect place that is elegant, inviting and comfortable? Take a look at these simple ways to add stylistic elements to create a luxurious master bedroom. A space that you can relax in after a long and exhausting day.
A simple and budget-friendly place to start a bedroom update is by adding new bed linens. In a master suite it is ideal to create a space where you aren't worried about spills or keeping people off the bedspread.
It also isn't practical to spend $500 on a bedspread that no one can use, much less sleep in. And elegant but care-free style is the goal to achieve here. A great option is to buy bedding for under $100. Amazon has so many beautiful options to fit various luxury bedroom ideas and style.
Bedding on Amazon
Amazon is a great place to buy bedding. I ordered everything from Amazon except for the throw pillow covers.
Duvet and Duvet Covers
Bedding is a great way to create a relaxing master bedroom. On my bed the comforter is a duvet with neutral colors. Our duvet cover inserts are down comforters. The down comforters are around $50 depending on what size you need (shop here). And the duvet covers are around $40. Shop white here.
Since my husband and I don't share blankets when we sleep, I have a second comforter that we fold and put on the foot of the bed. To add a taste of elegance we placed a beautiful grey ruffled duvet cover on top of it. Shop ruffled duvet cover here.
Sticking with a solid color on the main duvet cover helps to establish a neutral color palette. This will make your room look clean and bright.
Duvet covers are super convenient because they can be pulled off and thrown in the wash whenever it gets dirty. We had our last white duvet cover for 3 years. And the only reason I upgraded to a new one was because the white was getting dingy.
Sheets and Pillows
As for pillow forms, it is SO important to get good ones. Have you ever noticed that pillows in fancy hotels are stiff and very high quality? Good quality pillow forms help you to fluff them and then karate chop them. These are amazing and come in several different sizes. Again, another Amazon find.
Relaxing Master Bedroom Retreat Furniture
When creating a dream bedroom, there are some things you can choose to forgo. New furniture pieces was not something up for negotiation. Gorgeous new bedroom furniture helped to complete the look in our master bedroom suite.
The bed is from RC Willey (shop here). A tufted headboard was always on the most wanted list, but with little kids that wasn't very practical. Since my youngest is now 6 I decided to go for it.
I have honestly loved the soft tuft. It adds such a great texture and design feature to the space. That luxury hotel feel is very desirable.
My accent chairs in the seating area are also from RC Willey. Shop here. They are really deep chairs which we really love. I wish there was a couch that was this style because I would buy that too!
The nightstands are my favorite. The extra large size and the carvings bring in so much texture to the space. (Shop here) Both of the doors open to attractive display shelves for lots of storage.
Table Lamps and Decor
Items on your nightstand can make or break the flow of your bedroom. Not enough decor can look empty, while too much can build up clutter.
The wood bowl (shop here) adds just enough warmth to the color palette design. It helps to carry the warm tones of the hardwood floors upward into the rest of the bedroom! The lamp is from Target, but is currently out of stock. I will keep my eye open for a restock.
The bench is from Wayfair. The color scheme is perfect. The light wood legs balance well with my wooden floor and I love the leather top! (shop here)
Feature Wall in the Master Bedroom
Creating a fun accent wall always adds a lot of character to a space. After acquiring our bedroom furniture, creating an elegant accent wall behind our bed was the next priority.
To do that I used small pine molding from Home Depot and created 3 long rectangles on the bottom and 3 on the top. To fill in the boxes I added an even smaller molding inside the box. I love the subtle texture it added to the wall and how it accents the high ceilings. It was under $200 to add the wood accents.
Curtains for Your Luxury Suite
Curtains Help Create a Relaxing and Elegant Master Bedroom
Large windows are desirable because they let in plenty of natural light. If your room doesn't have big windows, any window is more desirable than none. To really emphasize the large windows, you can add floor to ceiling length panels on either side.
These curtains are the icing on top of the cake for this master bedroom design. They bring in high style and desired warmth to the space. Soft neutrals compliment my bed linens.
They are the soft top, blackout, ash curtains from Barn and Willow. The black out curtains also help to keep the heat from the sun out. This helps to keep our large master bedroom nice and cool in the summer months.
Finishing Touches and Accessories
Remember that classy and simple design keeps the look stylish. Too much clutter and your room loses the elegant appeal.
