Christmas Bedding Tips for the Holidays
Once the winter season hits, I'm all about a cozy Christmas bedroom to warm up in every night. What better way to enjoy those winter nights than with cozy bedding and an inviting atmosphere to greet you all Christmas season?
But first, whether it's for your guest room or your own master bedroom, you need to have an ideal bedding set to invite that holiday spirit in. So move on over, Santa. We're taking charge for giving the gift of perfect bedding this year. Take a look at several ideas on transforming your own bedroom into a winter wonderland of warmth.
Classic Red Theme
It wouldn't be Christmas without a traditional red theme weaving its way into your holiday decor. This first option features a stunning display of a classic Christmas palette in my master bedroom.
I usually choose neutral bedding for my duvet cover and sheets that I can easily accent for any holiday. Red is the perfect traditional holiday color to accent with if you want to have your home feel a touch of Christmas spirit. Add a throw blanket at the foot of your bed for an added splash of color, like my red throw. Make your pillows really pop by placing a red patterned pillow amidst all of the white toss pillows.
Since I wanted to carry this red theme throughout the space, I also brought in additional red decorative pillows for our seating nook. Then, I added red berry branches to the flocked tree in our room. The red and white palette pairs so nicely together, especially in a red and white tree.
The bright red sign against the white DIY picture frame molding wall looks absolutely stunning. Finish off the festive look with some faux or fresh greenery. I added a beautiful green garland to the lighting fixture above the bed, but you can also opt for garland on your headboard or a small wreath above the bed.
Swap Out Your Neutrals
Another easy way to create cozy Christmas bedding in our Christmas-themed bedroom is to swap out your neutrals. I changed out some of our beige bedding and swapped it for a different neutral. This definitely changes the overall look while still achieving a festive haven.
Instead of a cream comforter, I chose a gray comforter and matching gray pillows behind the white. I also incorporated a beige toss pillow with red tassels to add a little more texture.
Use Colorful Toss Pillows
Don't want to worry about changing out bedding? Leave the bedding as is and instead just change your accent pillows. This is a good option for adding holiday cheer to a kid's room because it simplifies bedding needs, but also add the Christmas touch they like.
To my daughter's room we left the neutral bedding and instead added a few accent Christmas pillows for a cozy feel. A playful festive print like this can add just the right amount of a Christmas vibe for kids rooms.
Choose Bold Patterns for Christmas Bedding
How about implementing bold patterns for your Christmas bedroom decor ideas? For this farmhouse master bedroom, we changed things up by styling the bedding in bold color patterns. This is a sure way to make your rooms stand out.
For the Christmas bedroom ideas in this space, I wanted to stick with tones that would look good with our DIY charcoal bed frame. A fun way to do that was by finding dark and bold bedding patterns to match. I started with gray and white striped sheets. These pop out really well against the white comforter. A dark charcoal gray comforter boldly ties in the color at the foot of the bed.
I brought in bold red and white buffalo check pillows to match the bright red Christmas sign hanging above the bed. These cozy pillows are always in style, as is the buffalo check theme in any style of Christmas decor. These bold designs create quite the contrast against the neutral background. You can also use classic red tartan bedding that has a similar look to buffalo check.
And for a finishing touch I added a tray filled with a few Christmas decorations. It's filled with some of my favorite things like winter greenery, ornaments and a lovely holiday felt garland. You can make your own holiday DIY garland here too.
Stick With a Neutral Palette
Last, but not least, choosing only neutrals can go a long way in creating cozy Christmas bedding to enjoy. You don't need pops of color on display if minimal neutrals are more your thing. You can still create lovely Christmas vibes regardless of adding bold colors.
For this master bedroom space I eliminated the red color scheme and stuck with shades of gray and white. I paired a gray comforter with the white bedding and layered an off-white throw with fun tassels on top. The tassels and knit pattern help to create more texture and dimension. If you are sticking with neutrals, make sure that the fabrics you pick have texture for added style.
I also added rectangular gray and white toss pillows with a bold white pattern that looks like snow drops. They tie the gray and white color scheme together beautifully. A flocked Christmas tree in the corner and a vase of neutral white winter stems completes this cozy Christmas bedroom into a lovely winter scene.
