How to Make a New Year's Eve Charcuterie
However big your gathering, this easy charcuterie board is nice for convenience and simplifying the process of feeding guests.
Pick a Theme
A great way to pick a theme for your New Year's Eve snack board is going off of your party color scheme. Black and gold or black and silver are fairly common color combinations for New Year celebrations. I opted for black, white and gold for our party to give me a little more variety in food options.
Choose Your Foods for New Year's Eve Charcuterie
For this holiday charcuterie board, I wanted something special for the kids that was family-friendly and could feed a large crowd. I opted for mostly sweet treats with a hint of salty in there, but if you're looking for a balanced variety, check out this snack board with a good mixture of sweet and savory snacks.
Kids love the platter of tasty treats but you may want something a little more appealing for adults. Try an adult serving tray that is filled with a variety of cheeses, fresh fruit, gourmet meats and fresh vegetables.
I also love this tray because you can keep it at room temperature instead of worrying about putting it on ice for foods that need to be cold.
Make Your New Year's Eve Charcuterie Display
Make the Numbers
For this snack board, grab a large charcuterie board that has a dark background, like this one. I purposefully chose a dark wooden board for a strong contrast with the metallic number cutouts. I ordered a set of numbers all in the same color to display 2024 on the board. Instead of ordering a two pack set, I just flipped the 5 upside down and cut it with snips to create another 2.
Once these numbers are placed on your snack board, fill them up with some of your favorite ingredients. I filled the cutouts with white yogurt-covered raisins to make the numbers pop against the dark board. You could do the same thing with another favorite treat in a different color.
Fill in With Favorite Foods for Bases
Next, add in delicious food that are larger sized items. These will be your base foods to build around. Place them on opposite sides of the board for more texturing and dimension.
I used Oreo cookies and Pirouline wafer sticks, along with some larger chocolate treats, fitting for a sweet tooth!
Additional Snacks to Fill in for New Year's Eve Charcuterie
Now it's time to fill in all those empty spaces with some of your favorite things. Fill in the board with your snacks grouped together into bunches. I tried to include different flavors with a mixture of vanilla, chocolate and caramel in our themed colors. White chocolate pretzels help to bring a little bit of savory into this sweet mix. And the coated raisins are good for slightly healthier options.
Other Adult-Friendly Food Combinations
- Dried fruit and nuts
- Apple slices and toffee dip
- Shrimp and cocktail sauce
- Baguette slices with soft cheese, cherry tomatoes and fresh herbs
- Salami and sausage slices
- Various types of olives
- Crackers and gourmet meats with spreads
And as far as drinks are concerned, because we don't drink alcohol in our family we love to have Martinelli's in mini bottles or to fancily drink it in champagne glasses. Another kid-friendly option may be to have a hot chocolate board or a cocoa bar.
Finish Out Your New Year's Eve Charcuterie Display With Decor
What better way to complete your New Year's Eve charcuterie board than with stunning decorations to compliment the space? It's equally important to have style and presentation as well as a yummy variety of flavors for your taste buds.
For this table display, I opted for black and gold candlesticks and gold berry branches to tie into my theme colors for the centerpiece. I placed two tabletop modern fire pits for fun decoration and added lighting. Lighting features are a good choice for adding an element of elegance for this type of party.
You can also add in a Happy New Year banner over an archway or hanging over a table. Putting up a themed balloon arch is my personal favorite because it really makes a big impact for low cost, plus you can reuse the gear and arch supports. But you can also look here for more party decorating options that won't break the bank.
Other Charcuterie or Party Food Options
A great charcuterie board can make all the difference when it comes to satisfied guests at your party. After all, everyone has a different palette preference so it is important to include a variety to choose from. Here are a few more options for charcuterie boards or popular recipes for your holiday celebrating!
- Spooky Halloween charcuterie board
- Turkey charcuterie with fresh fruits and vegetables
- Christmas candy boards for parties
- Delicious cheese ball with jalapeños and crackers

This New Year's Eve, don't settle for just any old snack plates. Level up the party with a stylishly curated charcuterie board and some fun decorations on display. You don't need to spend a fortune to make an impressive display. Invest in an array of cheeses, charcuterie, breads, and fruits for the adults, and a fun dessert board for the kids and those young at heart. When you're done, you'll have an eye-catching spread that's sure to please your guests.
The beauty of the charcuterie board is that it's completely customizable. You can let your imagination run wild and get creative with presentation. So, let your guests snack, savor, and toast the new year in style, according to their palette's desire.
Happy Entertaining!
