Why You'll Love a Dessert Birthday Charcuterie
A traditional cheese platter or classic charcuterie board are pretty popular when it comes to adult gatherings. - Customize it to taste preferences for the birthday person
- You can still have a variety of foods - smooth or crunchy treats, sweet and salty, chocolate or fruity
- An easy way to throw in a bunch of bright colors
- Cake is optional

How to Make a Dessert Birthday Charcuterie Board
Gather Supplies
When gathering all of your supplies and favorite ingredients, make sure to use a large charcuterie tray or cutting board that will fit your themed board with numbers. You'll want these to be a main focal point so they need to be pretty big.
Arrange Numbers on Birthday Charcuterie Board
Displaying these number cutouts is what really makes this snack board stand out apart from a traditional charcuterie. I love the visual interest provided by this oversized display. Center your numbers on your cutting board if possible.
Fill Your Number Boards
Pick a corner and start filling in with your treats. If possible, place items that can spill easily into the corner spots. This will keep them somewhat contained and organized. Place items in groups so that everything has a somewhat uniform display and isn't scattered in random pieces everywhere.
Another great option is to use small bowls or cups in the number space to fill with really small treats or candies. I also threw a few mini cakes in there to break up the candy sections.
Other Uses for This Birthday Charcuterie Board
Party Favors
Another great option? You can have small bags for guests to fill from this tray as party favors to take home. It's an easy take home treat as well as fun visual artwork for your party celebration.
Movie Night Candy Board
Hosting a movie night for the kids? You can also use this candy board concept to have for a movie night board. Throw in some popcorn options to balance all of the candy munchies. What a fun way to celebrate a party or gathering.
Cookie Board
Change things up with a cookie charcuterie. This way you can mix all different types and shapes and appeal to those who love homemade or store-bought. Include a variety of chocolate, vanilla, wafers, fillings and toppings.
Additional Treats and Decorations
Birthday Cake
For those not wanting to eat candy, we also included a few cakes that I picked up from Nothing Bundt Cakes. We got lemon flavor and the confetti bundt flavor. If you are short on time to make a cake, these are a nice way to go. I like bundt cakes because they are easy to cut into slices and can feed a large crowd.
If you have family or friends who aren't big on candy, but you still want that dessert theme, you can also try these options that might require some refrigeration or chilling on ice:
- Adding in a board with fresh fruits
- Chocolate-covered strawberries
- Sugar cookies or bars
- Christmas crack (customizable for other occasions)
Decorations for Birthday Charcuterie Board
Add a personal touch to your display with a few stylish decorations. I sprinkled additional candy treats around the border of the cutting board. I also added some fun spiral birthday candles in all the rainbow colors, then completed the look with a fun pom pom garland. If you want to go a little bigger on the birthday decorations, try out this awesome DIY balloon arch.
