Elegant Shower Wall Ideas for Bathrooms
Master Bathroom: Marble Walls
When designing our new home, a luxurious shower was definitely on the list. Because when it comes to a bathroom design, larger walk-in showers are necessary when members of your family are extra tall.
To achieve a sleek look with the interior design of our modern bathroom, we opted for large glass doors for our shower and marble tiles. Using a glass shower door is a great way to present your shower design as a focal point for the bathroom, allowing you to see through to the tile design and shower heads.
Limited on available walls for a glass shower? Not to worry! This also works really well for half wall showers if you can only fit in partial glass. The space appears much larger while emphasizing clean lines and beautiful gray and white marble.
Marble Tile
The marble tiles are 12x24 inches. Large shower wall tiles are a popular choice to cover more surface area. Marble is highly durable material. It creates an elegant look and adds a sense of grandeur to any room. I carried the wall tile over and extended it to behind the tub as well for added visual interest.
Glass Tile for Floors
The floor is a glass tile that looks like marble. We found this to be the best option for flooring because the glass tiles hold up better to shampoos and conditioners.
This space feels so much brighter because the natural light can bounce off the glass and bathroom tiles. Light colors are a good choice for a color scheme in an open concept interior design like this luxury bathroom.
Black and White Bathroom: Ceramic Tile
Ceramic Shower Walls
For this classy black and white bathroom I wanted to create a unique pattern for the design. This ceramic tile is a good option that is low maintenance and user-friendly, making it a key component in shower walls. But instead of a classic horizontal pattern, I opted for a bathroom wall with a vertical tile design instead. It's a fun way to change up the design. Plus, this draws the focal point up and down in length versus width. This is a useful design style if you don't have tall ceilings.
For added contrast I used a dark grout that compliments the dark ceramic shower tile floor quite nicely. And that dark grout really makes the black shower fixtures pop against the white palette. This is a great option for a simple and modern style.
Ceramic Shower Floors
If you want to get more creative, choose a fun design to implement into your shower walls or floors. I used dark ceramic tile for the floors and added a fun accent with white tile. Although I used this method on my shower floor, this is a fun option for a shower wall accent tile idea too.
I also love the glass door enclosure because it makes this small bathroom space seem so much larger. Again, if you can fit glass panels into your shower design, it creates a very open and modern atmosphere.

Girls Bathroom: White Subway Tiles
Love the look of classic subway tile? This tiled bathroom shower uses elongated white subway tile that is 16 inches long, slightly adjusting the look of standard subway shower tiles. This is an excellent option for changing your wall covering just enough for a fresh look. This bathroom space carries a subtle boho vibe that ties in well to my daughter's boho teen bedroom.
The grout color used in this shower is a vibrant light gray, allowing it to stand out even more against the neutral-toned white tiles. The combination of classic subway tile and this modern grout color make an unmistakably eye-catching bathroom shower design that will have your guests oohing and aahing. If you're looking to create a bathroom that looks timeless yet modern, this is an ideal inspiration.
The white tile is a popular choice for bathrooms because you can pair it with most designs, regardless of color or style. White is a good neutral to pair with vanities and other wall colors or bathroom fixtures. I also opted for a white shower curtain for this shower area, in place of any glass panels.
Hall Bathroom Shower: Etched Marble Tile
Although subway tile is quite popular for a bathroom project, don't forget to look at other unique designs. For this bathroom renovation in our modern farmhouse, I found a beautiful 12x12 marble tile with a lovely designed etched in the tile. This is one of the best ways to add design details while keeping a minimalist look.
You can also see that I chose fun floor tiles for this small space because it is a great way to bring in additional patterns and texture. Incorporating a fun design into your tiling is a great option for a bathroom that sticks heavily to neutrals.
Shower tile patterns can add so much elegance to a bathroom wall. And although you can't see the design as well when you are far away, when you are close up it is the details that are truly worth noticing because it looks more custom.
The number of shower tile patterns available, including mosaic, can provide so much design potential for any bathroom wall. And the best part? The more intricate and detailed the tile pattern, the more luxurious the bathroom will appear. In addition, you can customize the design even further by combining different types of tiles and textures to achieve a truly unique and sophisticated look. Whether you opt for a classic style or something more modern and eye-catching, adding a tile pattern to your bathroom will completely transform the space and make it a true reflection of your taste and style.
