Luxurious Bathrooms to Inspire Your Remodel
Besides your master bedroom, your bathroom is the one place you want to be functional and warm since you spend quite a bit of time there daily. But styles are diverse and there are many options to consider when updating your master bathroom space.
I've narrowed down a few different style choices and functions that I like, that may present different ideas. Take a peek through these luxury bathroom ideas and find a design concept to inspire your own remodel.
Contrasting Colors
Don't be afraid to create contrast with your modern design. At first this bathroom was a neutral color scheme with all white walls. However, I decided that I really wanted to make the center cabinet pop. I added picture frame molding to both sides of the floating vanity and painted it a dark color. See the full tutorial here.
The dark coloring of the vanity wall is a stunning contrast with the large mirrors in gold trim. The charcoal grey adds an element of warmth against the natural stone. See how I painted an entire room and ceiling in this color too!
Wood Finishes
Even if wood finishes are not your first choice, don't write off natural materials until you've seen a few of these stunning spaces. Isn't all of the wood in this bathroom beautiful? I love the wood cabinets with the slight grey undertones and the floor tiles that looks like wood as well. You can still create a luxurious look with incorporating two different wood shades.
Dark Vanity Wall
You don't see dark walls too often in bathrooms because they are usually smaller spaces that need to feel bright and airy. But, shiplap walls painted a dark charcoal like this is done superbly along the mirrored wall and really makes the white bathroom vanity pop! (Source unknown) We also used a dark painted shiplap on my son's ceiling and I loved how it turned out. You can also adopt this thrifty version of shiplap to save on cost.
Even if your counter space is small, I would consider investing in a double vanity. Having double sinks is definitely worth adding to make your space look more luxurious. If you are limited on wall space in your bathroom renovation, one trick is to buy smaller sinks so you aren't giving up available space for your counter.
Open Shower
A modern master bathroom should include an elegant shower room. Whether you prefer a steam shower or a custom walk-in shower, there is something for all!
I love the modern look of this separate shower that falls directly down on you. Plus, it's really nice to not have to worry about a shower door or curtain and still have a privacy wall.
Combined Shower and Tub
And what do you think about this new trend to combine your shower and tub in the same wet zone area, like this one? I'm intrigued by it, for sure! It definitely makes things much easier keeping all the wet contained in entire space.
I love the freestanding bathtub behind this giant glass wall. If the size of your bathroom is large, a wet zone area is a great way to incorporate a minimalist design with a shower and tub.
Natural Stone Elements
Talk about a stunning focal point with this unique design. I love the gorgeous natural elements of this shower, especially the awesome dual heads flowing against the stone backdrop. If you are looking for a wow factor in your bathroom space, this is definitely an elegant look.
Wainscoting
Another fun idea to incorporate into a master bathroom is to add wainscoting like we did in this beautiful space. Painting it a dark green color helps to add a relaxing moody vibe to a renovated bathroom. But if you prefer a white wainscoting, see what it looks like here.
For a similar look to wainscoting that is more budget-friendly, see how I created this imitation wainscoting design in seven steps for under $50.
White and Cream Farmhouse
This is our second farmhouse master bath remodel and I love the transformation! We used a combination of light colors for this cozy bathroom space. One might think that cream and white clash as a color scheme, but it actually softens the space and creates a warm atmosphere.
We utilized this same color scheme in our farmhouse kitchen makeover and I love how the space is softened.
Modern Light and Dark Bath
I love the modern style of this fun and elegant bathroom. The modern contrast of light and dark is a gorgeous design choice, especially with the dark ceiling and flooring. The white subway tile with dark grout in the shower is a great way to tie in both ends of the color spectrum with a luxurious appeal.
Windows and Patterned Tile
Wow! I love the fun shower doors that look like windows. This style is an exquisite detail of farmhouse decor. And that gorgeous patterned tile flooring! It is simply to die for in this bathroom.
I have installed the tile flooring and wall tile accents in multiple bathrooms and it is definitely a project that you can do yourself with a little patience.
Modern Meets Farmhouse
This space is a fun mix of modern meets farmhouse bathroom! The natural elements combine with the black lines and elegant wood accents for a more contemporary design.
Lighting and Mirrors
And I specifically wanted to point out a couple things for this bathroom. Take a look at the lighting and the mirrors. Round mirrors are different from traditional rectangular design, but they can add so much more style to a room.
And those lights? This is a very different look from normal bathrooms, but it's not a bad idea to try something else from traditional lighting fixtures. Take a look at some of my favorite farmhouse vanity lights.
Dual Sinks
I love the dual sinks PLUS the third vanity in this farmhouse style remodel. It's so nice to have a separate area to do makeup and hair! And adding a third mirror makes the room look much bigger. I love the herringbone pattern in the flooring too.
Grand Entrance
When you have all the beautiful fixtures inside your bathroom, what master suite would be complete without an exquisite doorway? Create the ultimate sense of style by making a grand entrance into your luxurious space.
We built this DIY barn door for the ultimate grand entrance from our master bedroom into our bathroom.
DIY Barn Door Tutorial
Creating a luxurious master bathroom doesn't have to feel overwhelming or expensive. More importantly, the design should suit the needs of the homeowner and reflect their personal style.
From clever organization to elegant fixtures, the possibilities for creating a luxurious master bathroom are endless. Whether you choose to go bold and modern or subtle and traditional, the process should be a fun and fulfilling experience. Look at your master bathroom as a chance to create a personal escape and make it your own.
