Pallet Wood Tables
Kids Table
When it comes to pallet furniture ideas, using a pallet for a table top is a fun way to go. I made this small pallet table for my daughters using this table as inspiration. I left the raw wood as is and used a dark wood stain to show off the rustic look of the worn wood.
Since pallet wood is already worn it is a great idea to use for kids. A few more dings and scratches can't hurt the vintage look. If you are worried about splinters, apply a Polycrylic sealant coat to seal it up.
Sofa Table
I also used pallet wood to make this pallet sofa table top. When your table tops are damaged or you need to remove the glass, pallet wood is an affordable and easy way to finish the top. See more details on how I finished this project here.
Pallet Letters
Looking for a fun home decor projects to create an accent wall? These giant letters in my kitchen are also made from free wood pallets. I opted to stain these letters slightly darker, bringing out the grain and imperfections of the wood. These too are stained to bring out the rustic charm of the grain and imperfections.
Pallet Frames
Traditional Picture Frames
There are a few different ways to use pallet wood for DIY picture frames. The rustic wood is a great option for a traditional picture frame. Assemble and cut your pallet wood to the desired frame size and style.
Painting your pallet wood is a good alternative to stain. Since pallet wood is usually pretty rough, painting it perfect is not necessary. Just apply paint on the surface and sand it off a bit in places to let the wood show through.
Pallet Wood Sign
One of my favorite DIY pallet ideas is creating these rustic wood signs and displaying them as a piece of art. I have used these signs in my kitchen, family room, living room and front entry. See how you can create one of these custom DIY farmhouse rustic wood signs.
Weathered Wood Sign
This beautiful welcome sign is also one of my handmade pieces that you can make from pallet wood. I also added chicken wire and weathered the wood for more rustic appeal. See the instructions here.
Other Great Ideas for Pallet Projects
Here are several other ideas that you can do with pallet wood. Some of these I have done using reclaimed wood, but pallet wood would also work just as easily!
- A pallet desk - I used reclaimed wood to make the farmhouse desk built into our farmhouse pantry. Pallet wood works just as well.
- Outdoor pallet planter
- Pallet headboard or bed frame - I used reclaimed wood, but pallet works too.
- DIY wood lantern
- Wood table tray
- Pallet garden bench
- Pallet wood wall - I have used alternate methods to create a white shiplap look on walls, but you can also use pallet wood for a similar accent wall.
The possibilities with pallets are endless, so don't be afraid to try out one of the many home decor projects the next time you get your hands on a whole pallet. Whether it's home decor or furniture, woodworking projects are great outlets for your creativity and can save you a bundle too!
