Farmhouse Inspired Master Bathroom Reveal

Before and After, Decorating & Remodel, My Home

I was beginning to wonder if our farmhouse inspired master bathroom was ever going to be complete… but it is now DONE!!! Let’s take a stroll down memory lane, shall we? Here is how our bathroom looked the day we moved in.

Some time after moving in my hubby was trying to fix the leaking shower faucet and accidentally kinked the hot water pipe in the process. Unfortunately, it was going be expensive to fix and left us without a shower for… 5 YEARS! Yup, for 5 years my hubby streaked across the main window to get to the other shower… let’s hope no one saw anything.

We went ahead and redid the rest of the bathroom with a new vanity, mirror and paint, until we saved up to have the plumbing fixed. Once that day came we tore the tub out and began the demo.

We actually had the plumbing moved from the outside wall to an inside wall, because some winters get so cold here that I worried it would freeze.

Once that was done we hired some guys to come and tile everything and paid cash. I wasn’t home when they left – NEVER DO THAT!! When I got home my heart sank. Tiles were falling off the wall, the hexagons on the floor were not spaced right and… (this is the part that really gets me) they used a GRINDER to cut my tile. So my tiles were chipped all over the place.

I spent the next week pulling out tiles and replacing them in the shower. The floor was so bad we ended up pulling everything out and buying all new tiles. I laid the tile this time.

Once the tile was done I started looking for a shower door. Since this bathroom is very small I wanted to maximize the space with a sliding glass door. The hubs and I hunted until we found this door!   I love that it is frameless and slides. So we ordered it… 2 weeks after we ordered it we were told it was backordered. So we waited and waited… FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR!!!!!

Now, it is here and installed. Our master bathroom only took 7 years to remodel! How about that for an awesome time line?

Let’s talk details:

Tile

I got my tile from Floor and Decor. For the shower I used long subway tiles in Bone and a marble border to tie my shower into my vanity. For the floor I used white hexagon tiles. The grout color is Alabaster and super easy to work with.

Shower Heads

My husband is 6’4″ and gets tired of having shower heads hit him in the back. So we installed 2 faucets. First, a tall rain head that does in fact, go over his head. And the far shower head that moves up and down that pole which can also be taken off if needed. The bottom knob controls the temperature and the other 2 controls which shower head is on or off. That way they don’t both have to be on at the same time.

Shower Door

I love that this shower door slides open, shuts and is frameless. Not having a frame makes this bathroom feel bigger.  I ordered mine here in oil rubbed bronze. This is a tricky install so I would recommend hiring someone. I hired my stepdad, who is a general contractor.

Lighting

I love this light from Lighting Design Company. It has the perfect farmhouse feel to it.

Accessories

I wanted to keep this bathroom simple because it is small. So I tried to make my decor as functional as possible. I love this teak bench. It warms the space and is great for holding shampoo and other items.  (buy here)

Other shower accessories here:

Instead of a towel bar I added hooks and some cute towels to compliment the space (towels here).

I used a vintage sugar mold to hold my make up (similar here)  and I love free standing toilet paper holders. (shop here)

Last, but not least, my vanity!  I love the details and the French feel it adds to this space. I got it from Ronbow here.

This mirror is a vintage mirror I repainted and brought back to life.  And the rug is from Pier 1 (view here).  I loved the pattern and complimenting tassels.

I added greenery on the toilet and this pitcher with some greenery to bring in just a touch of color!
