Easy tips for assembling a beautiful vase of faux branches.

Faux branches are often underestimated in home decor. While floral arrangements are lovely, they are not always practical with expenses and the constant need of replacing. Artificial branches are a great way to fulfill the decorating need on a budget-friendly level. Make the most of your greenery with these tips for styling faux branches in a vase.

How to Pick out the Right Faux Branches

And make sure to check out my faux plants guide too.

How to Use Faux Branches in a Vase

Putting together decorative branches can be hard with all of the options available. So before you can style your vase, there are a few prerequisites and helpful tips to follow.

Picking the Right Faux Branches

Begin by picking the right branches for your interior designs. Two options to consider are if you need to use horizontal space or vertical space. Picking stems that drape over a vase will take up more of a horizontal space (shop them here). Straight, stiff stems are ideal if you need to take up a tall vertical space.

Determine the Sizing for Your Faux Branches

Next, you will want to determine the sizing you will need for a perfect decorative accent. Measure your space to see how much room you have for your stems.

  • Tall Stems - If you need to take up vertical space, stems should be at least 36" tall.
  • Shorter, bushy stems - Select stems under 36" tall. If you have your heart set on an arrangement that is too big, wire cutters can be used to cut them down. Bending your branches is also an option, but be mindful. Branches that are too big can alter where the leaves start so cutting the size too much can change the appearance of that perfect decoration.

How to Pick a Stem Color

This step may not sound as important because you are probably assuming that most branches are green. However, stems can come in a variety of colors that can change the look of your accent pieces.

Though most stems are green, the color of green can make a big difference. Think about whether you want a bright green, silvery green, lime green or possibly yellow or mauve. I use all different colors of greenery through out my house.

It is even fun to switch greenery out for the seasons for a stylish touch.

Winter Stems

Create a cozy winter ambiance with a beautiful arrangement of faux Norfolk branches and pine cones. The soft, feathery texture of the Norfolk stems mimics the elegance of evergreen trees, bringing a touch of wintery freshness indoors.

Paired with the rustic charm of faux pine cones, this combination adds a natural, woodland feel that’s perfect for the holiday season. Arrange them in a tall vase for a dramatic centerpiece or weave them into garlands and wreaths for a more festive touch. This winter arrangement captures the essence of the season while being low-maintenance, making it a timeless addition to your winter decor.

Spring Stems

Easily bring a touch of spring into your home by combining dead branches with faux stems featuring budding flowers. The mix of real, weathered branches with vibrant faux blooms creates a beautiful balance of nature’s renewal and rustic charm.

Start by placing a few dead branches in a large vase to form the base, then weave in faux stems with delicate buds of cherry blossoms, magnolia, or forsythia. This combination adds height, texture, and a fresh spring vibe without the hassle of maintaining real flowers. It’s a simple, budget-friendly way to refresh any room and celebrate the changing seasons.

Outdoor Faux Stems

Transform your outdoor space into a lush, elegant retreat by combining faux boxwood bushes with white hydrangea flowers. Faux boxwoods are perfect for creating a neatly manicured look with minimal upkeep, while the soft, full blooms of faux white hydrangeas add a touch of timeless beauty.

Whether you place them in planters by the front door, along a patio, or as part of a garden arrangement, this combination exudes sophistication and charm. Plus, using faux greenery and flowers means they’ll stay vibrant all year long, regardless of weather, making it a hassle-free way to elevate your outdoor decor.

Summer Stems

Adding faux poppies to a vase is a wonderful way to bring a vibrant summer vibe into your home. Their bright, bold colors—ranging from rich reds to sunny oranges and yellows—instantly create a lively and cheerful atmosphere.

Choose a tall, clear or neutral-toned vase to let the beauty of the poppies stand out. I added lemons around the outside for even more color! They brighten up any room, making them a perfect addition to a dining table, entryway, or mantel for that summery, welcoming feel.

A mini faux tree paired with faux green hydrangeas is a beautiful way to add a touch of nature and elegance to any space. The mini tree provides height and structure, offering a refreshing, natural vibe without the need for maintenance.

Complementing the tree’s greenery, the soft, pastel tones of faux green hydrangeas add fullness and texture, creating a balanced look. Arrange them together in a large pot or planter to make an eye-catching statement piece, perfect for brightening up a corner, entryway, or living room. This combination blends lush greenery with classic floral beauty, making it an ideal addition to your decor year-round.

Fall Stems

Bring the warm, cozy colors of autumn into your home with fall faux stems in shades of orange, yellow, and mauve. These rich hues evoke the beauty of changing leaves and harvest season, making them perfect for creating a seasonal arrangement that will last all fall.

Mix faux maple leaves in vibrant orange and yellow with mauve-toned berries or blooms to add depth and elegance. Place the arrangement in a rustic vase or basket to capture that warm, inviting fall vibe.

Whether displayed on a dining table, mantel, or entryway, these faux stems bring the essence of autumn indoors, without the worry of wilting.

How to Mix and Match Artificial Stems

Feel free to mix and match your faux branches for a unique arrangement. Choosing all birch branches will definitely depict a different style over a mixture of faux magnolia stems and curly willow branches.

  • Branches that are all the same - faux branches create a stream line look.
  • Mix - adding a variety of stems brings in more colors and texture.

Here is an example of mixing 4 different stems for a fun variety.

How to Add Faux Branches to a Vase

Now that you have your faux branches collected, you can assemble them together in a vase with the easiest hack EVER (shop stems here). Pick a fun vase to style your stems. A white or black vase are good choices for something neutral. You can also opt for a floor vase if you choose a bigger arrangement.

Find four plastic shopping bags and push them down into the bottom of the vase. You might need a few more plastic bags if the vase is large. Just make sure the bottom is covered.

Next, either cut down your stem with wire cutters or bend your stem to the desired length.
