Holy cow, it is time to start designing the inside of our home. I am not going to lie – it is a little overwhelming. So I have decided to take a room at a time and get all of the design elements completed for that specific room before moving on. First up, I am tackling my laundry room.
Laundry Room Inspiration
Originally, our plans included one big laundry room in the mudroom. I currently have my laundry room in my mudroom, and I HATE it. Staying on top of laundry is not my strong suit. It is always a mess and the only way out to the garage is through the laundry room/ mudroom. I also hate that my laundry room is on a different floor from the bedrooms. We haul all of our laundry across the house, wash it and then haul it back to put it away. Instead of having one big laundry room I will have 2 smaller laundry rooms. One by the master and one upstairs by all the kids’ rooms.
My kids’ bathroom will be about the size of this laundry room pictured above. Originally I was going to stack their washer and dryer, but since they are not that tall yet I am going to leave them side by side like the picture below. I will put a countertop over the washer and dryer and then add cabinets up above for all the soap and other things.
Next up, the master laundry room. It will be about this size. We currently have our washer and drying stacked and have loved it. So to save space in this laundry room we are going to to stack them again. And I will have cabinets in here as well and a counter top.
While we are on the subject of space saving I will also be adding barn doors to both laundry rooms so I don’t have to worry about the door swinging in and taking up space. I also like the idea of having a barn door to break all the doors up a bit and add a fun element.
Let’s talk finishes. The main part of my house will be neutral so I can easily change out my decor based on my mood for the month. But I wanted to do something fun in the laundry rooms. I love colored cabinets like shown above and I love pattern tiles as shown below! Now I just have to figure out the colors I want.
