How to Style a Gorgeous Pink and Gold Christmas Tree in 5 Easy Steps
We styled my daughter's Christmas tree in gold and pink ornaments last year to go with her black, white and pink color palette. And this year with all of the Barbie craze, it only seemed fitting to choose pink and gold again instead of picking a new color scheme.
Start With a Flocked Tree
This year I got my daughter a 7'6" tall pencil tree for her bedroom. When you have limited space in a room or bedroom, this slim tree is the perfect solution. It is sized well for fitting in small corners and doesn't make your space appear cramped. This style is also flocked.
Starting out with a flocked Christmas tree as a base is optimal for gold and pink Christmas tree decorations. There are a lot of perks to having a flocked tree. A white tree is much more bright and authentic looking because of the snow-covered appearance. That white wintery look helps decorations to pop against the light background, whereas a typical tree in green Christmas color is not as easy to see select ornaments. A flocked tree inspires an elegant look and better visibility, ideal for our Christmas color scheme.
Don't have a flocked white Christmas tree? No problem! You can buy some decently priced ones on Amazon here if you prefer artificial Christmas trees. Or, try flocking your own with this simple tutorial. Flocking your own tree can be a little bit messy, but it also is more cost effective if you don't want to purchase another tree right now.
Add Ribbon or Garland
Before you add accessories to your tree it's important to pick tree decor in the correct hue, especially with pink shades. I opted for gold, white and a lovely blush pink that is soft. Rose gold Christmas decorations would also work. You will find that pink can be paired nicely with white, silver and gold. Choose colors shades that can still pack a punch without being overwhelming when combined together.
Next up, add your ribbon or garland before placing any ornaments. Cut different lengths of ribbon and slowly tuck into various places on your tree so it bubbles out. My ribbon lengths are no more than a couple feet at most on this size of tree.
I chose to incorporate white and gold ribbon instead of pink ribbon for a more subtle and classy look. But I did add a few that are the black and white pin stripe to go with the black and white theme in her room. Ribbon is great because there is very little extra cost and you can reuse it year after year.
If you would prefer to use garland, a great option might be gold bead or a wood bead garland. You can even make your own with this DIY felt ball garland tutorial.
Add Texture Pieces to Pink and Gold Christmas Tree
When your ribbon is finished, it's now time to add decor with texture and statement pieces. Faux flowers like poinsettias are nice because they take up a lot of space and blend in really well into the branches. I used gold and pink poinsettias that had just enough of a shimmer. Then I added white fur poinsettias to balance out all that sparkle. Both options have a lot of texture that is shown in a unique way.
I included additional white poinsettias on the desk. Those flowers combined with the white flocked evergreen branches make a beautiful floral arrangement. The stark contrast with the white florals and black vase is a fun focal point.
Use Additional Ornaments to Fill In
Next up, because you don't want your tree to be all flowers, you'll definitely want to add in more pink Christmas ornaments and gold decorations. Luckily these items also provide additional texture and dimension for the tree.
I included a variety of glittered pink baubles and snowball ornaments, as well as velvet ornaments. You can try making your own DIY velvet ornaments with this tutorial. Gold or pink velvet would be great choices. If you want more of the gold color scheme weaved in, mercury glass or other shimmery metals are a good style choice. I opted to make my own DIY mercury ornaments after seeing the cost.
You'll notice that the tree fits really well into the small space next to bed. It still pops even though the wall mural is more busy.
Top Off With a Tree Topper
And last but not least, it's time to add a little sparkle to the top of the tree. If you are looking for the perfect finishing touch on your pink and gold Christmas tree, check out this post for designing the right topper.
I love to go big and bold with most of my tree toppers, but for this slim tree I wanted just the right touch of gold Christmas tree decorations. I embellished the top with a few more white poinsettias, then added in a bunch of golden curly branches for extra pizazz. There is nothing I love more than beautiful Christmas trees!
And here is her tree from last year. I love the beautiful combination of the pink and gold Christmas tree theme!
Decorating a pink and gold Christmas tree in 5 easy steps is a beautiful and unique way to make the holidays special and memorable. The combination of pink and gold is sure to be a fantastic addition to the festive season. With a little effort, you can transform the ordinary into the extraordinary and create holiday decorations for all to love.
Happy Decorating!
