Our little Boston loves cars. He loves to make their sounds, he drives them all over the house, and any chance he gets he will sneak into our cars. Also, he has already started to point out the "cool" cars. So we threw him a car birthday party. This party was thrown together on a whim as we got back from vacation the day before... but, luckily we managed to pull it off.
Themed Car Birthday Party
My husband ordered this cupcake cake from a local bakery. This was the first time we had done a cupcake cake. So let me just tell you, these things are genius! It allows you to have the option of cake, but eliminates the mess of needing to cut individual pieces. You can even add ice cream and you are good to go!
I found this gas pump at Home Goods a few years ago. I almost didn't buy it at the time, but I am so glad I did. This is one of my favorite pieces that I use to decorate his room. And, it comes in handy for things like this.
For colored theme candy, I found the blue sixlets and colored taffy at Walmart. The small green candies are frooties I picked up with the cake.
I have been wanting to make Boston a sign to go above his bed and this was the perfect excuse to finally get it done. I used one of our USA cutouts (listing here) and I then cut out his name (listing here) and glued it to the USA cutout. It turned out just how I imagined and will now go perfectly in his room!
Here is a closer look of the cupcake cake. It turned out great!
And there you have our fun little backyard car birthday party!
