Celebrating our little girl this week meant that I was able to spend most of my time in the kitchen and not in the garage. And as her birthday got closer, I couldn't resist putting together some fun elements for the whole party.
Pink and Gold Party Decorations
Background Decor
Every great party should have background decor. When it comes to decorating, the possibilities are endless. Consider the occasion, venue, and aesthetic of the party when selecting decorations. If it’s a formal event, opt for elegant items like candleholders or vases, or even artwork. For a more relaxed vibe, try light strands, balloons, or paper lanterns. Whatever you decide, the goal is to create a space that feels both inviting and stylish.
Stunning Backdrop
Whatever backdrop you pick for your main party area, you want it to be stunning and memorable. This can be something as simple as a photo backdrop or elegant like a draped fabric with garland.
We picked a white textured background to set up our main table for this pink and gold birthday party so there was little work on our part. Add birthday balloons to frame your gift table or food table. We added balloons in gold and an adorable pink on both ends for a little glam to this gold and pink theme party.
However, if you really want to party with a bang, a balloon garland or arch is a great idea to get a little fancy with your backdrop. See how to achieve that look with a balloon garland here.
Main Centerpiece
Don't forget to include a fun piece of artwork, sign or food as a main focal point for your birthday table. I used a large gold frame to contribute to the lovely gold theme. The frame surrounds the main focal point which is a cake stand with dessert on top of an additional stool. Giving extra height to the focal point draws more attention to this great table display.
If you don't want to use food as a main focus, you can also use an actual sign, banner or even a word cutout. Grab a piece of art for something a little more unique.
Additional Options for Your Background Decor
- Birthday banner hung on table or a wall
- Showcase a stylish birthday cake
- Add a garland - I used a mini one on the main cake, but a glittery gold garland would give this a bit more pizazz!
- Set up mason jars with fairy lights or hanging lanterns if your party is in the evening
- Do a photo box
- Streamer or curtain backdrop
- Canvas backdrop with a picture or scene
- Floral or Trees
Pink and Gold Party Ideas for Table Decor
Table Linens
Although pink tableware would have looked awesome, I opted to keep most of the basics neutral. We used a white table cloth for a nice and clean base.
Serveware
A big part of creating an awesome party table is having the right type of dishes to serve a crowd. Cake stands, serving trays and charcuterie boards are super helpful for dressing up your food and making it a bit more accessible. Include a few apothecary jars with treats and you have a stunning display for all to see! Here are a few of my favorite party serving dishes I use.
In keeping my basics neutral, I opted for a few different cake stands that are white or clear, providing the perfect height to feature some of the desserts. A few gold party supplies added a little more elegance to this gold party theme.
Floral Accents
If you want to add a feminine touch to the mix, utilize some floral accents to dress up your table. We used white flowers in mason jars for a classy and versatile decoration.
Dessert Table Delicacies in Pink and Gold
If there is anything that I really love it is utilizing food as part of your decor. This is an easy way to achieve style and feeding your guests in one swoop. For this pink and gold party, I featured a dessert table instead of a traditional table with appetizers or a meal. Dessert tables are so much fun and it gave me ample opportunity to throw in pink party food.
Main Food Feature
For this pink party theme, my daughter wanted a dessert in her favorite color. A cake in the color pink was definitely on the list! I have always loved the look of textured cakes so I bought some cake combs and a turn table from Joann's to experiment with. It isn't perfect, but the texture is so fun.
If you are looking to test out your cake skills, this is an easy one to try! You can also look here for some easy DIY cakes that are sure to impress. But if baking isn't up your alley, then a store-bought cake works great too!
Finger Desserts
Mini Cakes, Cupcakes or Cake Pops
While a cake like above is awesome for a focal point, it's not always ideal for feeding your guests. This is where mini versions and finger food come in. I love to use cupcakes or cake pops to hit the spot with our guests. They are both small enough to get the right sample of cake and easy to make.
These birthday cupcakes are so cute! For the cupcake wrappers I used a generic cupcake pattern I found on Pinterest and cut them out of pink and gold scrapbook paper. To get the fun edge I used scalloped scissors.
You can use cupcake toppers or simply apply frosting with a fancy tip and throw on a few elegant sprinkles for simplicity. Cupcake pops are also great options for take home party favors. See some dessert pop ideas here.
Cookies
My daughter and I made these cookies together the day before her birthday. The cookies were delicious and the first things gone!
Candy Jars or Candy Bar
Candy jars are my go to when I need additional treats or displays. Grab some apothecary jars and fill them up using your party theme colors. A candy bar is also a fun party favor take home. Simply set out favorite candies with baggies and let them put in a few of everything.
Pink and Gold Party Ideas
Throwing a pink and gold party does not have to be an intimidating task. All you need is a bit of creativity and some basic elements to create your own unique and glamorous atmosphere. So, let your imagination run wild and make your pink and gold affair shine!
Happy Decorating!
