How to Throw a Donut Birthday Party
Choosing the Perfect Donut Decorations
When it comes to choosing the perfect donut party decorations for your child's birthday bash, the possibilities are endless. From vibrant pom poms and streamers to a donut balloon and confetti, there are so many ways to infuse a touch of whimsy and fun into your party space.
Balloon Garland
For one of our donut birthday party ideas, I made a large balloon garland in a variety of colors that cascaded on to the floor. This is super easy to do as a DIY and is the perfect way to create decor for a themed birthday party. Since I knew we would be having this at a church, I wanted to still create a fun focal point. I used Amazon prime for picking up all my supplies.
Table Decor
I kept it simple for the party table because I wanted the focus on the balloons. I used a white table cloth and pink table runner to create the base for my display. But I did end up attaching a large inflatable 13 to the table too.
Simple Backdrop
I also made a backdrop with some scrap wood I had in the garage. This can be a nice addition if you want to add a little more elegance or need it for propping up decor items.
First, I built a 2x4 frame and then pieced together scraps to go over the top. You can use wood glue or your drill to attach the wood to the frame.
To cover the seams, I used ยฝ" trim and then painted it all in a light pink color to match the theme for the whole party. A backdrop like this is so nice because you can reuse it for the next party.
Delicious Donut-Inspired Snacks and Treats
My daughter only wanted donuts because it is her favorite treat, so a little creativity was in order. We made a bunch of different donut displays and it was so much fun. Whether you are a fan of Krispy Kreme or making your own donut, options are endless for satisfying the differing tastebuds of all your party guests.
For those looking to add an extra dose of sweetness to their donut birthday bash, consider incorporating a few other delicious donut-inspired snacks and treats into the party menu. From mini donut holes to donut-themed cupcakes and cookies, there are endless possibilities for creating treats that will have guests coming back for seconds. Donut-shaped marshmallow pops and chocolate-covered pretzels with sprinkles are also fun options to consider. These tasty snacks will not only satisfy everyone's sweet tooth but also tie in perfectly with the overall theme of the celebration.
Donut Wall
A donut wall adds a cute touch to your overall food display because it looks just like a donut toss. I made this donut wall where guests can come and grab their favorites. To make this board, I simply drilled ยฝ" holes approximately 4" apart and then secured dowels into the board for hanging donuts. You can use spray paint to make it pretty.
Stacks of Donuts
For these donut stacks, I opted to create my own instead of buying something. I also used 4" square pieces of plywood, drilled a ยฝ" hole in the center and then added ยฝ" dowels for the donut stands.
Donut Theme Birthday Cake
For her donut cake, I stacked a variety of donuts on top of each other on a cake stand and added candles. So EASY. You can also throw in ice cream here too, if someone really doesn't love only donuts.
These charming donut decorations set the stage for a celebration that is truly unforgettable.
Party Serveware for Donut Birthday
And of course, a cute display never hurts! Make sure to have some nice serveware as part of your table display. I like to invest in some good quality serveware like cake stands, trays and drink dispensers. But if that isn't in your budget, feel free to browse a dollar store for some thrifty alternatives.
Fun Donut Birthday Party Games for Kids
To keep the energy high and the laughter flowing at your donut birthday bash, be sure to plan some fun donut party games for the kids. Set up a donut pinata filled with sweet treats for a classic party game everyone will enjoy. Another idea is a DIY donut bar or donut decorating station where little ones can unleash their creativity and design their own tasty treats.
An exciting game of "pin the sprinkle on the donut" is sure to bring lots of giggles and friendly competition. And don't forget about donut twister to get those kids moving. These interactive activities will keep the young guests entertained and engaged throughout the celebration.
There are a lot of different donut party games you can incorporate into your donut parties. For my daughter's party I opted to hire a DJ. This was lots of fun and different from what we've previously done for birthday celebrations.
The kids played glow-in-the-dark dodgeball, had a dance off, held a Hula hoop spinning competition and lots and lots of dancing.
