A 40th Birthday Party!

A 40th Birthday Party!

Parties & Recipes

With the craziness of the last year, I’m sure the hubs really wanted something more low-key to celebrate the big 4-0. However, you only reach “over the hill” one time in your life so might as well make it a big birthday to celebrate, right? (Even if you can’t have any friends over, thanks Covid.)

This guy is pretty much the best. I mean, he even smiled in this picture… and you all know how rare that is! Haha. He’s always willing to drop what he’s doing to help someone in need. He supports me with all my crazy ideas… (like how I talked him into building a house!) And he pretty much rocks the dad gig.

Over the Hill Birthday Party

Black is a recurring color scheme for “over the hill” so I went with that and accented in gold. I love big balloon banners and this one was no exception! I got this kit on Amazon for under $20 and made this. It took me about 2 hours to blow all the balloons up and hang them. I got the happy birthday banner and 40 balloons from amazon as well. Donuts are another favorite so we had to include some of those on a cute display. Don’t miss the RIP sugar cookies either. Haha. And do you see this amazingly gorgeous cake? My future next door neighbor made it and it is so beautiful!

To display the donuts I bought these stands on Amazon. When you are creating a treat table is is important to get height, these babies are amazing at that! For the cookies I used white platters (shop here)

I had to get candy in there some how! I made these cute signs (download them here) I bought these cute tins and sign stands at Target. I also got the black plates, gold napkins, black table cloth and gold table runner from Target. Party Tip: Get everything you can in your color scheme. It will add so much to the table.

Happy 40th to our favorite, Devin!
