How to Transition from Summer to Fall Decor
Incorporating Earthy Tones
Because we aren't fully immersed into the new season, it's important to find a balance between using both late summer and fall elements in your decorating. An easy way to enhance the cozy ambiance of your fall decor is by incorporating earthy tones throughout your space. These natural hues evoke feelings of warmth and comfort, perfect for this time of year.
One of the best ways to use earthy tones is by incorporating natural elements into your home. A great way to do this is using flowers and greenery, faux or fresh. For my dining room area, I swapped out my citrus floral centerpiece and opted for a color palette of red and rust in my bouquet. I also added in some small wooden bowls to pull in the natural wood tones. Dough bowls are also an excellent option for tabletop decor on your dining table or coffee table.
In the living room, I used a similar neutral palette with faux stems in fall colors. Browns, greens and beige stems are the perfect for bringing in the warmer tones.
I also have smaller decor items in the same warm neutrals. A cream bead strand with textured beige baskets are small touches that can make the space feel more like fall. More options for fall florals here.
By seamlessly blending earthy shades of brown, green, and rust into your decor, you can create a serene atmosphere that embraces the beauty of autumn.
Adding Cozy Textures in Your Summer to Fall Decor
To further enhance the cozy embrace of fall, consider incorporating soft textures throughout your space. Plush cozy blankets, soft throw pillows, (linked here) and textured rugs in earthy tones or neutral colors can add an extra layer of comfort to your home.
These cozy elements not only enhance the visual appeal of your space but also invite you to relax and unwind during the autumn season.
Soft and cozy textiles are one of my favorite ways to add a cozy feel to a room. I added these lovely green hued pillow covers onto our sitting chairs. The green ties in well to with the cute mum stems, while bringing in elements of a fall color scheme. Don't forget about pulling a neutral rug into your living space to bring it all together. The combination of earthy hues and soft textures creates a welcoming atmosphere that will make you want to curl up and enjoy the crisp fall days. Next, we'll explore how adding festive accents can elevate your fall decor even further.
Festive Accents
Don't be afraid of incorporating festive accents that capture the spirit of the season. Hydrangeas and apples are great transitional decor options because they tie into both fall and summer seasons.
You can also add touches of fall with decorative pumpkins, pinecones, and dried leaves strategically placed throughout your home. On my fireplace mantel, I added a green arrangement with copper colored fall leaves. See more ideas for fall mantel decor here. I also added a festive touch of scenic wall art that represents a fall scene.
These simple additions can bring a touch of autumn indoors and tie all of your decor elements together.
