6 Easy Steps to Stunning Farmhouse Fall Fireplace Decor

Selecting the Perfect Fireplace Mantel Centerpiece

When it comes to choosing the perfect centerpiece for your fall season mantel, you have a couple different options. Choose a themed fall statement piece that ties in well with your fall farmhouse decor. Consider fall mantel decor ideas like a fall wreath or even a picture in the center of your mantel. Or, choose a decorative focal point that is neutral and decorate around it with smaller additional items.

For my cozy farmhouse mantel, I opted to start with the neutral centerpiece. I usually prefer this option because then I can leave my main piece up all year long. I chose a neutral but decorative wooden accented mirror. This is a beautiful choice for fall decorating because it ties in to natural fall colors, as well as making the room appear much larger. Then, I layered my mirror with framed fall scenic art and complementary foliage.

Mixing Textures for a Warm and Inviting Atmosphere

To achieve a cozy and welcoming vibe in your living space, consider mixing textures when decorating with farmhouse fall decor on your fireplace. A great way to do this is with textured art work and frames, vases, and fall foliage.

And because your living room is an extension of the fireplace surround, think about these ideas. You can also combine soft, cozy blankets or pillows with smooth, sleek candle holders for a delightful contrast that adds visual interest. Balance rough, rustic wood elements with soft textures that will create a tactile experience. That can include wooden frames like my wooden mirror, candlestick holders or a wicker basket.

By incorporating different textures throughout your decor, you can create a harmonious look that is both inviting and visually appealing.

Incorporating Natural Elements

As you continue to enhance your farmhouse style fireplace, consider adding natural elements to bring a touch of the outdoors inside. Using natural elements is perfect for emphasizing specific seasonal decor.

Incorporate a few leafy branches or a vase filled with seasonal flowers in an autumn color scheme. These simple touches can add warmth and authenticity to your space while making a big impact. I added in a few different faux fall flower arrangements with a pop of color in a fall palette of browns, reds and golds. Lion's Ear fall stems and rusted Rusted Silver Dollar Eucalyptus are some of my favorites.

Here are a few other options for appropriate natural decor:

  • Grasses
  • Pine cones or acorns
  • Faux apples
  • Birch logs (see my birch log-like fireplace here)
  • Faux autumn leaves
  • Fall berries

Mixing in these natural elements will help create a cozy and inviting atmosphere that reflects the beauty of the fall season.

Candle Holders and Accessories for Farmhouse Fall Fireplace Decor

But that beautiful fall display doesn't only have to consist of items found in nature. Candles and small accessories are some of the best things to use for farmhouse mantel decor ideas.

When selecting candle holders and accessories for your farmhouse look, it's important to consider both style and functionality to complement the overall aesthetic. Opt for rustic metal or distressed wood candle holders. This can add a touch of warmth and farmhouse charm to your mantel design. Mix in metallic accents like copper or bronze for a subtle yet sophisticated touch. I chose golden holders with contrasting black candles to make the gold really pop.

Don't forget to include small decorative elements such as twine-wrapped candles or miniature pumpkins to enhance the fall theme of your fireplace decor. By carefully choosing the right candle holders and accessories, you can elevate the cozy atmosphere to create a Pinterest-worthy farmhouse look.

Adding a Touch of Fall to Your Coffee Table

Next, to bring the essence of fall into your living space completely, consider adding a touch of autumn to your coffee table as well. I really love to think of this as an extension of your mantel anyway!

Incorporate elements like faux squash or gourds, small bundles of dried wheat, or a rustic wooden tray with candles to tie in with your farmhouse fall fireplace decor. Again, I tied in a large vase with beautiful red foliage and spread out additional simple black candles on the coffee table. A bowl with a natural wooden bead garland finishes the look. Here is also where you can extend additional textures with throw pillows or a warm blanket for a cozy look.

By extending the seasonal theme to your coffee table, you can create a cohesive and inviting atmosphere throughout your living room. Next up, let's explore how using faux pumpkins can complete the look of your fall farmhouse decor.

Using Faux Pumpkins to Complete the Look

Lastly, for a cost-effective and long-lasting option to enhance your farmhouse fall fireplace decor, consider using small pumpkins. Faux pumpkins come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and colors, allowing you to mix and match to create the perfect autumnal display. You can choose orange or white pumpkins, brown pumpkins, or red ones. I added a few mini pumpkins in a velvet material and they are super cute.

These artificial pumpkins can be reused year after year. This ensures that your farmhouse decor remains consistent and timeless. Place them strategically around your fireplace mantel, on shelves, or even on the hearth to add a pop of fall color and texture to your space. If you are really feeling adventurous, opt for something a little larger with these DIY terra cotta Pottery Barn knock off pumpkins.

By incorporating faux pumpkins into your decor, you can achieve a Pinterest-worthy farmhouse look that will impress your guests and create a warm and cozy ambiance in your home.
