Supplies Needed for Printable Fall Decor
- Free gather printable (DOWNLOAD HERE)
- Pine
- Paint brush
- Stain of your choice for wood - I use Minwax
- Sandpaper
- Decoupage
- Wood glue
How to Make a Gather Sign and Frame
First, download and print the gather printable. Once it is printed, cut a piece of pine down to the same size as your printable.
Once you have your pine cut down, take your paint brush and add a thin layer of decoupage to your pine for best results. If you add too much it will make the colors of the printable bleed and fade more.
Place your fall printable art on to the pine and slowly push it down so your printable sticks to the decoupage. Once it has dried, use the sandpaper to clean up the edges of the paper and wood.
Then, use the rest of your pine to cut down into strips to create a frame. I cut my pine 1 ¼" thick and then measured the lengths so it would fit around my gather. Once everything is cut, paint the frame with your stain. I used a gray Minimax stain and love its farmhouse style and appeal to fall vibes.
When the stain is dry, it is time to glue everything together on your printable fall decor. Now let me just take a minute to tell you about one of my favorite things - this awesome glue. It holds within three minutes and it is fully cured in 30. I have put this glue to the test for personal use and it really holds after 30 minutes. You can buy little bottles of it at Home Depot and the big bottles on Amazon.
Add a strip of glue alone each side of wood and set them up to adhere to the sides of the gather sign. Hold it for a few minutes until it is good and stuck. Then, let it cure for 30 minutes before moving it.
Once the glue is dried you have a beautiful gather sign to use for your favorite season. There is nothing I love more than a touch of fall to look forward to!

How to Make A Give Thanks Sign
Supplies Needed
- In all things give thanks printable (download above)
- MDF or wood board
- Mod Podge
- Chip brush
- Pine for wood frame
- Early American Minwax Stain
- 220 grit sandpaper
- Nail gun or Rapid Fuse glue
How to Make This DIY Fall Sign
First, cut your MDF or pine wood down to 8 ½" x 8 ½". Next, apply Mod Podge to cover the entire front side of the board and carefully place your printable over the top. Smooth out all of the wrinkles with your finger and then let it dry. Do not apply Mod Podge over the top as it will cause the ink to smear.
When the Mod Podge is dry, use your sand paper to lightly sand along the edges and remove the excess paper from your printable fall decor.
Then, cut your pine down to strips - ¾" by 9 ¼" long. Use a chip brush to stain the pine strips with Early American wood stain by Minwax. Once the stain is dry you can either use a finish nailer to attach the frame or use Rapid Fuse and clamp the frame to the sign until dry.
I have a complete tutorial on how to make similar signs with napkins here.
