Dressing up as a family has become a fun family tradition. All year long my kids brainstorm for the next years Halloween costumes. Here are a few of our family costumes.
When I am planning our costumes I try to gather as much stuff as we have around the house that will work. Then I will go to Thrift stores and whatever else is left I usually order it on Amazon.
For the Addams Family, my son already had a striped shirt and my daughter had striped leggings so we just used those. My husband had this suit and black tie, so the other thing I had to get him was hair… ha ha. That is actually his mustache we dyed to match his hair. I dyed little buddies hair black with the hair spray. To get the look I wanted it was important to make our faces white with dark eyes. I used a white and black make up kit. I applied the white all over and then added black around the eyes.

I have to say dressing up as Despicable Me was so fun. Our kids still talk about it. It probably helps that it is one of our favorite movies too. We all had our favorite lines we repeated all night. Mine was “Lipstick taser” and of course my kids had to make annoying sounds.
These costumes were pretty easy. I bought all the minions and Gru as a set for fairly inexpensive. I only had to piece together my costume for Lucy.
This was the first year we dressed up as a family and it was so much fun… it stuck.
Happy Costume shopping!!
