Make the most of your spring decor with beautiful front porch ideas.
Spring season is definitely a favorite time of year. Warm weather finally greets us, beautiful flowers bloom in different colors and I always get so excited to decorate my spring front porch.
One of the best things about a white house is that it creates the perfect backdrop for adding decor with the white brick texture. Are you looking for more ways to welcome spring decor into your home? Enjoy these simple ideas for making the most of your DIY spring front porch decor.
Tips for Spring Front Porch Decor
- Seasonal seating options
- Decor for your front door
- Use planters and hanging pots
- Add lanterns
- Use a door mat
- Add in small trees and flowers
Seating for Spring Front Porch Decor
It's always a good idea to have seating options for your outdoor spaces. The good news is that you have multiple options to pick from when it comes to outdoor furniture, such as benches, chairs, sectionals or gliders. When front porches have seating, your home will always look more inviting.
Our home faces east, so you will often find us on our small porch during warmer months. These rocking chairs are perfect for a nice, peaceful evening! I also love my other set of chairs on the opposite end of my porch as well. They are great for a small porch space. Or see this post for ideas on a DIY porch swing.
Your seating options can also be helpful for tying in a color scheme for your DIY spring front porch decor. It's an easy way to bring in a splash of color with outdoor pillow accents or throws on a chair.
Front Door Decor
A welcome sign or spring wreath is one of my favorite ways to create a warm welcome into our home.
Wreaths
Wreaths are a wonderful option for spring porch decor. And they can come in several varieties - grapevine wreath, faux flowers, coffee filter wreath (tutorial here!), boxwood green wreath, or a pom pom wreath. I also love my magnolia wreath. There are so many options!
Wooden Cutouts
Wooden letters or cutouts are also a good focal point. We have a beautiful display of our initial on the front brick. And any welcome word or spring sign is ideal for spring porch ideas. Take a look here for more spring porch decorating.
Planters and Hanging Pots
Decorative items like planters and hanging pots are a fun way to bring in spring flowers and greenery that adds more style to your front entry porch.
Planters
These containers are a beautiful way to bring in a pop of color and additional greenery. You can easily change or supplement your decor style with the different types of planters available.
Looking for something more modern? Try a planter with focus on geometrical design, straight lines, steel or concrete. How about traditional farmhouse style? Try a planter with terra cotta, natural wood or rustic metal like an old milk can.
I got some new planters from Birch Lane to match my decor. I love these Resin Pots. They also match my roof and flagstone planter areas. Don't those colors just pop against the white background of the house?
I added one of the planters to the corner of my porch to help draw the view upward. Planters don't have to all be the same either. I put faux trees in black planters and I added in a metal planter as well.
And below are a few more of my favorites.
Hanging Planters
These hanging planters from Birch Lane are one of my all time favorites! I especially love the shape of them and they add the perfect hint of brown to match the color palette.
So often you see round hanging planters, so I like the unique cone shape that throws in a bit more modern style to this small space. In the summer months these fresh flowers bloom with just enough sun coming through the pergola.
Add Lanterns for Spring Front Porch Decor
While you can use other smaller decor items, a good go-to item is a lantern, such as this lantern from Birch Lane. Lanterns are a great idea for adding in some design elements for inside or outside. You can add fillers for the inside during the holidays for more color.
Make your own DIY lantern here or here are a few other fun ways to use lanterns in your decor.
Don't be afraid to mix and match lanterns. The different textures and finishes add a great decorative element.
Use a Door Mat
Door mats are wonderful because they are dual purpose. They provide an element of style, while serving practicality for eliminating dirt from entering your home. This simple welcome mat from Birch Lane is both elegant and practical on a small front porch.
Add Small Trees and Plants
And of course, adding in some small trees and plants is the perfect way to make your own porch stand out. You can use real plants and trees or choose the artificial route. I do a combination of both. These trees and these are beautiful options and bring out a lot of green.
And don't forget that a small potted plant like this one is also gorgeous for setting on a table on your porch!
Decorating a spring front porch is the perfect way to prepare for spring season. I hope these tips will help you to create DIY spring front porch decor that will add strong curb appeal to your home as warm weather arrives.
