Want to learn how to create a relaxing master bedroom with a sitting area? A place that is elegant, but also comfy. I don't want it to be a place where I am worried about spills or if someone is sitting on my bedspread.
Cause let's be honest - when you pay $500 for a bedspread you don't want anyone sitting on it. But... when you can buy beautiful bedding for under $100 on Amazon there is a lot more flexibility!
All of my bedding, except for the throw pillow covers, I ordered on Amazon.
Bedding on Amazon
Bedding is a great way to create a relaxing master bedroom with a sitting area. Our duvet comforter inserts are down comforters and then we have duvet covers on them. Our down comforters are around $50 depending on what size you need (shop here) and then the duvet covers are around $40. Shop white here.
Since my husband and I don't like to share blankets when we sleep, I have a second comforter that we fold and put on the foot of the bed. To make it look pretty I added this beautiful grey ruffled duvet cover to it. Shop ruffled duvet cover here. Duvet covers are super convenient because I can pull it off and throw in the wash if it gets dirty. My last white duvet cover I had for 3 years, and the only reason I got a new one was because the white was getting dingy.
My white sheets are even from Amazon and we LOVE LOVE them. The throw on the bench is actually a turkish towel. It is old and I can't find the exact one... but here is a similar one on Amazon. As for pillow forms, it is SO SO important you get good ones so you can fluff them and then karate chop them. These are amazing and come in several different sizes. Again, another Amazon find.
Relaxing Master Bedroom Retreat Furniture
My bed is from RC Willey (shop here). I have wanted a tufted bed FOREVER but with little kids that wasn't very practical. Since my youngest is now 6 I decided to go for it. I have honestly loved the soft tuft. It adds such a great texture to the space.
My chairs in the sitting room are also from RC Willey. Shop here. They are really deep chairs which we really love. I wish there was a couch that was this style because I would buy that too!
Our nightstands are my favorite. I love how big they are and the carvings bring in so much texture to the space. (Shop here) Both of the doors open to display shelves for lots of storage.
As for the items on my nightstand. I love the warmth the wood bowl adds (shop here) It helps to bring the warmth of the flooring up! The lamp is from Target, but it currently out of stock. I will keep my eye open for a restock.
My bench is from Wayfair. The light wood legs go perfectly with my wood floor and I love the leather top! (shop here)
Accent Wall in Our Relaxing Master Bedroom with a Sitting Area
After I had all the furniture for my room I wanted to create a fun accent wall behind our bed. To do that I used small pine molding from Home Depot and created 3 long rectangles on the bottom and 3 on the top. To fill in the boxes I added an even small molding inside the box. I love the subtle texture it added to the wall, and it was under $200.
Curtains Help Create a Relaxing Master Bedroom
Curtains are the icing on top. I love how much warmth they brought to the space. They are the soft top, blackout, ash curtains from Barn and Willow. The black out curtains also help to keep the heat from the sun out. This helps to keep our master bedroom nice and cool.
