Beautify your backyard with a DIY aluminium pergola you can enjoy all summer long.
Transform your backyard from ordinary to extraordinary with your own DIY aluminum pergola. With just a few simple supplies, a little elbow grease, and a few hours of your time, you can quickly construct a structure to transform your outdoor space. An aluminum pergola not only provides you with a beautiful place to relax and entertain, but it also can increase the value of your home.

Choosing DIY Aluminum Pergola Kits
Adding a pergola to your backyard is an attractive addition to your outdoor living space. Besides being a great option for patio covers, a beautiful pergola is a big statement piece for your exterior.
When researching what to install for our own pergola, there were a lot of choices to consider. Rest assured, lots of hours went into this research for anyone interested in aluminium pergolas.
Quality
When making an investment for your backyard porch or patio, you definitely want a great product that is high quality. Traditional pergolas made out of wood and lattice tubes are definitely high strength, but I wasn't too keen on the upkeep of exterior wood knowing it would be more than just minimal maintenance.
Aluminum is a high strength product that is quite strong and sturdy even though it is on the lighter side. Our pergola is anchored to the cement as a precaution and has not moved an inch since installation.
Weather Resistant
Aluminum pergolas can withstand anything from unbearable heat to sudden rain showers. We have had this pergola for a year and I am happy to say this weather resistant aluminum frame is still going strong even with extreme weather conditions. We had the windiest summer on record and this winter has provided the most snow in over 40 years.
Installation
This modern pergola is a great addition just because of the fairly quick assembly time. With any DIY product, you expect it to take some time, but don't want to spend days on a project. This easy assembly took us a few hours to complete.
You also want a product that has comprehensive instructions. Bad instruction can completely ruin your experience, or product!

How to Build a DIY Aluminum Pergola
Since all of the instructions were included with this aluminum pergola kit, I'll just highlight the main building points.
Organize Supplies
First, it's a good idea to lay out and unwrap all of your supplies to make sure every part is there. Lump similar items together in groups so the process goes faster when you begin assembly.
Build Frame for DIY Aluminum Pergola
Assemble the posts individually and then attach all together using the included wrenches and your other tools. A rubber mallet is definitely useful for hitting everything into place so it is nice and tight. These posts will be your frame base for your pergola.
Assemble the Roof
We opted for a pergola with a top hat to allow the hot air to escape from the top during the heat of the summer. This keeps the gazebo so much cooler!
To assemble the roof, first install the metal rods. Then you will install the top of the roof. It is made out of tinted PVC so that light can still come through while protecting from harsh UV rays.
Continue installing metal rods around the top (lots of repetition here) until all of the rods are inserted.
When all of the metal rods are installed, your final step to complete the roof is to insert metal roofing slats on top.
Anchor DIY Aluminum Pergola
The last step is to anchor your DIY aluminum pergola. Use a hammer drill to anchor each post. This particular kit does come with four anchors for each metal post.
This DIY aluminum pergola is a luxurious addition to our existing patio furniture. We will spend so much time out here in the summer!
Traditional Wood Pergolas
Our previous home had a traditional wooden pergola and it was a great addition to our porch. This is a nice option if you want a custom pergola because you can build it according to your needs.
A wooden pergola is more work because of the maintenance. You will need to sand it, repaint and seal. See how I painted our pergola here.
It's no secret that a DIY pergola kit can add a touch of beauty, style, and elegance to any backyard. However, it's important to pick the right kit that is easy to assemble and will last for years.
The pre-cut aluminum pergola kit is the perfect choice for any homeowner who is looking for an all-in-one, customizable, and low-maintenance solution for their backyard. With its stylish design and unique combination of strength and durability, this DIY aluminum pergola is the ideal choice for anyone looking to make their outdoor spaces more welcoming and attractive.
Happy Building!
