My Mom has a fancy dinner on Christmas, I can remember this tradition since I was a little girl. As I think back about this dinner there is one thing that comes to mind, her gold silverware. My mom has always loved gold and believe it or not I have never been much of a fan of it until lately. So you can imagine her surprise when I asked if we could use the gold silverware.
This year we decided to do a test run of how the Christmas table would look. It was nice setting everything up at my mom’s. We started decorating it last night….and this morning when I got there it was just as I left it. That never happens here with 3 kids, the minute I turn my back someone has to be touching and messing up something.
We wanted to create a beautiful table without spending a fortune. One of the best ways I have found to do that is to use things I already have. You may recognize these ornaments in the background because I have used them for years, the gold twigs were leftover from last years decorations, the wine glasses we found at the dollar store, and the pinecones I bought last year because they smelled so good!
When I want to add an elegant touch to decorating I like to bring in fresh elements. For this tablescape we used real red cedar branches I bought at Costco for $15, fresh flowers also from Costco for $15 and fresh cranberries for $5. For only $35 we added a beautiful elegant touch to this tablescape.
Now that this table is set I can’t wait for Christmas…eeek! Since my mom doesn’t have little kids running around anymore she is leaving it just like this until Christmas! We may need to replace a few of the fresh items but it is perfect!
