I love old bed frames, unfortunately some of them have seen better days….This bed frame was no exception. But when you find something with so much detail and character it is hard to leave it behind. Good thing I had a very cute assistant to help keep my in line 🙂

After I started sanding it down I realized there was about 6 coats of paint on this baby….Eek. When there is that many coats of paint I will use a paint stripper instead, otherwise i will be sanding for days. You can view my paint stripper tutorial here.
I got everything off I could with a stripper and it seemed like there was still so so much paint on there. Lets see…we can count the layers
Cream

Needless to say there were countless hours spent sanding this baby down!
There are always those pieces I think “what on earth am I doing?”, but once I see the finish product all the hard work and hours spent seem to be worth it!
I used tongue and groove pine planks on the top they make this bench look so rich!
I am a fan pink and aqua together so I left a bit of the pink undercoat on to show through this bench which ties the pillows in even better!
I love the texture of this piece. It looks so rustic and adds so much character.
