How to Create a Cute Black and White Halloween Front Porch
Decorating my fall porch for Halloween is a highlight for the crisp and cool season. This year I painted the front of our house white, and it turned out to be the perfect setting for our classic black and white color scheme. If you are looking for ways to make your Halloween front porch a little more cozy and a little less ghoulish, we've got you covered.
Picking a Classic Theme
Picking a theme is always a tried and true recipe for getting your decor to be functional. I love the classic black and white Halloween porch decor ideas. And since orange is widely used for this time of year, I really wanted to try something different for my fall porch.
Pick a color that isn't typical for your outdoor Halloween decorations and I think you'll find it looks just as good! I love the warm and cozy family-friendly spooky Halloween porch, and opting for a black and white color scheme this year will help with that. You can see my black and white interior here.
Use Sayings or Words
Add cute sayings or phrases to embellish your home decor. It's easy to add something to your front door or near it. I incorporated this beautiful metal pumpkins sign by The Simply Inspired Shop into my green and white pumpkins near my front steps.
I also put up this sign, I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers from Currently Chic. Isn't it adorable? It fits right in with my theme and brings that cozy, warm style to my front yard.
I added a few of my wooden cut out bats as well for an extra pop of color against the brick. You can use paper bats, but I wouldn't recommend it if you have harsher weather. These bats are cute and fun, instead of traditional scary decor.
Cozy Pillows and Throws
Adding pillows and throws is an easy way to soften your decor while also serving practicality. Plus, they are great for creating a physically comfortable and cozy space. I got these mud cloth pillows by With Lavender and Grace and they accent my porch beautifully.
If you already have throw pillows from the last year, try picking up some new pillow covers so you don't have to replace the whole pillow. A subtle black and white pattern or neutral color can easily be found on Amazon in different sizes.
Mix and Match Pumpkins
Pumpkins are also a great way to go for any fall decor. And I don't just mean traditional orange pumpkins with a creepy carving. I added in my colored fall pumpkins while also using these Fabric Pumpkins by Peek Pillow Originals. The fabric ones are so cute for a Halloween front porch and the patterns are so fun. Bringing in texture and patterns are great for outdoor use as well.
Don't forget to check out a few other different ways for pumpkin options:
- Shiplap pumpkins - rustic faux pumpkins
- DIY toilet paper pumpkins
- DIY terra cotta pumpkins: Pottery Barn knockoffs
- Black painted pumpkins for porch steps
- Black and white floral arrangement - this is an inexpensive way to tie in a traditional floral arrangement since you are using faux pumpkins and flowers.
Incorporate Smaller Details into Black and White Halloween Porch
And one thing I can't forget to share is that sometimes, the best decor is shown in the small details. These Trick or Treat Boho Beads by The Pickled Rose are some of my favorites to accent with in my holiday decor. So, you may have seen them in other rooms of my house! I also have them in my new living room and they are the perfect touch of color.
Traditional Spooky Elements
Lastly, adding in that element of traditional spookiness really completes the whole ensemble of a Halloween night front porch. I placed my wooden spider web on my front door, but you can also use traditional faux spider webs too, or another type of Halloween wreath too.
I also added the classic element of Halloween bats for a spooky vibe to my black and white Halloween front porch. These are so fun and you can put them up anywhere, not to mention, reuse them! A few other hanging options may be witch hats with fishing line, black lanterns, flameless candles or large spiders. Black decor items really pop on a white porch.
Making a Halloween ghost for your porch is another option that you can DIY yourself. We have used them inside and outside for a frightful front porch.
Cozy Black and White Halloween Porch

A black and white color scheme is ideal for providing just the right amount of elegance with cozy elements. And don't forget, these creative ways to decorate are perfect for incorporating an easy DIY on a small budget.
Happy Decorating!

How did you put the bats up on the brick? Command strips?

Hi! I love this Halloween decor! Can I ask what kind of potted trees you have there? I would love to add those to my porch too but I'm not sure what type of tree works well in a pot. Thank you!
