Looking for an easy decoration to add to a wall or frame? We have made paper signs and napkin signs... why not a wallpaper sign! Check out my instructions for this EASY and fun DIY below.
What you will need:
- Wallpaper
- MDF or Wood
- Pine
- Wood Sealer or Paint
- Wood Stain
- Water basin or farmhouse sink
- Rag
- Squeegee or credit card
- Nail Gun or Rapid Fuse
How to make a Wallpaper Sign
1- Cut your sheet of MDF down to 35" Long x 25" wide.
2- Seal your MDF or wood with a clear coat or paint.
3- Cut your pine down to ¾" x ¾" strips.
4- Stain your strips of pine with stain. I used Early American by Minwax and a foam brush to apply the stain.
5- Once your board is dry it is time to roll out the wallpaper.
6- I left about an inch overhang on each side of the board so I had a little wiggle room.
7- Fill your sink or water basin with water. You could even use your bathtub!
8- Completely submerge the wallpaper in the water.
9- Remove and place on your wood.
10- Smooth out the wallpaper with a squeegee or credit card. Don't press too hard or you will push all of the glue off of the wallpaper.
Once all the bubbles are out repeat steps 6-10 again for the second piece of wallpaper.
11- Make sure to take the time to line up your seams.
12- Once all the bubbles are out, use a damp cloth to remove all the glue and smooth any other bubbles. Once the wallpaper is dry, remove the excess wallpaper on the sides with a razor blade and then add your frame.
And there you have a fantastic DIY wallpaper sign. Enjoy!

Can you overlap 2 pieces of wallpaper on the same sign? It’s because I want to show the checkered details to fit on the sign. Will the seams show? Thanks!
