Halloween Kitchen DIY Decorations
When it comes to your kitchen space, it can be a tricky area to decorate. Minimal decorating in this area can help to keep your kitchen clutter free, clean and festive. Use a black and white theme to display an elegant look without going overboard. Whether it's for a Halloween party or everyday living, use these thrifty Halloween hacks to embrace the spooky season without spending a lot of money.
Halloween Tray
Creating a Halloween tray is an easy way to keep your decorating minimal while still allowing for some fun holiday spirit. A holiday tray like this makes for simple clean up when you can contain your decor in one space. Simply move the tray to another location to free up your counter or if you need room on your table temporarily. Keeping a decor tray is a great addition on your countertop or the corner of the kitchen table.
To style your decor tray, the first thing to do is create a focal point. This can be something neutral or a specific decoration you want to be the centerpiece. I used a black and white vase and filled it with leafless branches from outside to cut costs.
Then, fill your tray with accent decorations that won't overwhelm your main centerpiece. I opted for a few small pumpkin figurines and some Halloween crafts. These ghost candles are the perfect easy craft to show off your DIY skills. See how to makes these below!
How to Make a Ghost Candle
- Use tall white taper candles for your ghosts.
- Soak all of your candles inside a tall jar using hot water (not boiling). This can easily be done in a mason jar depending on the size of your candle.
- Soak candles for 15 minutes and then one by one, bend them into a desired ghost shape. Make sure that you do not leave them in the water too long or the wax will start to melt and create a huge mess.
- When dry, use black paint to make black eyes for your spooky faces. Craft paint like acrylic paint is awesome. If you don't have any black paint, you can also try a black permanent marker, but I can't guarantee it will stick. And you're done!
Style your ghost candles in some adorable candle holders and place on your counter, table or even your Halloween fireplace mantel like I did here.
Range Hood Shelf Decor
Another fun way to dress up your kitchen with minimal black and white decor is to take advantage of your range hood shelf, if you have one in your kitchen. This is the best spot to hang Halloween wreaths or a fall wreath and spice it up with a few decor pieces.
This all black wreath is stunning against the white background of the range hood. I added my reusable bats and paired them with black flameless candles in golden candle holders.
Black and White Serveware for Halloween Kitchen
Dress up your dining room table or kitchen counters with seasonal serveware like these gorgeous black and white pumpkin bowls. Use them for decor and serving food at your Halloween dinner party. This makes for easy Halloween decorations that you can reuse in your kitchen year after year.
A few other common kitchen items that you can use as part of your Halloween decoration ideas includes:
- Festive kitchen towels or hand towels
- Black and white salt and pepper shakers
- Ordinary glass bottles turned potion bottles
Additional Halloween Kitchen Counter Decor
Next up, fill in any empty spaces with small and scary decor. This can be anything, from tiny pumpkins to small figurines to floral. To blend in well with my black and white color scheme, I found this cute black and white painted pumpkin. I placed it as a bookend for my cookbooks and put a small ghost figurine there too. Plus, the black and white looks awesome against my white tile backsplash.
On the opposite counter you can see another ghost as well as a jar filled with black floral. Black and white florals are an easy way to incorporate a little more Halloween spirit for low cost. You can even style them coming out of a faux pumpkin like I did here.
