How to Make Easy Peppermint Bark

Happy Holidays! Christmas is always full of baking and making goodies at our house. I was looking for an easy recipe to make with my kids with hopes of controlling the holiday excitement. I came across peppermint bark... it was the perfect recipe to make with my kids because of simplicity and time!

What you need to make Peppermint Bark:

  • Cookie sheet
  • Wax paper
  • Ziploc bag
  • Rolling pin - or something to smash up the peppermint candy canes
  • Peppermint candy canes
  • Peppermint extract
  • Milk chocolate chips
  • White chocolate chips
  • Olive oil
  • Pan and glass bowl - or something to melt chocolate in
  • Spatula

Recipe

  1. First, place 6 candy canes into a Ziploc bag and smash up.
  2. Cover cookie sheet with wax paper.
  3. Add 1 cup of chocolate chips and ½ Tbs oil into a glass bowl.
  4. Place bowl over hot water, melting the chocolate chips over boiling water. Stir consistently.
  5. Once melted, pour over cookie sheet with wax paper and spread around the sheet.
  6. Refrigerate for 20 minutes.
  7. Add 1 cup of white chocolate chips, ½ Tbs oil and ½ teaspoon peppermint extract into glass bowl.
  8. Melt over boiling water, stirring consistently.
  9. Pour white chocolate over hardened chocolate and spread around evenly.
  10. Sprinkle smashed up peppermint on the top of white chocolate layer.
  11. Refrigerate for 20 minutes.
  12. Once hardened, flip over the peppermint bark and removed the wax paper. Smash up and enjoy!
