Simple Ideas to Bring Holiday Cheer to Your Front Porch
Decorating the front porch is one of my favorite things to do. Winter holidays are no exception even when it is freezing outside. Perhaps I like to decorate even more so since the winter can be so drab and ugly. A little porch overhaul can really make a difference when there is no snow outside everything looks like it is dying.
Adding some simple outdoor decor along with some natural elements is the perfect way to brighten any outdoor space. And so, my budget-friendly Christmas front porch was created!
How to Create Budget-Friendly Front Porch Christmas Decorations
Add Garland and String Lights
Normally you might see a lot of twinkle lights on front porches for the Christmas season. However, I like to add a little something extra, Christmas greenery! One of the first things I added was this fresh garland. I picked it up from Costco for $16 a piece.
I draped 2 garlands along the front entry of our porch. Adding fresh greenery is a great idea because not only is it beautiful, but it is a great way to get a wonderful fresh scent along with it!
To complete the look I opted for adding white lights. Adding Christmas lights is a lovely way to create some shining sparkle for the holiday season.
Embellish the Garland
If you want to leave the garland as is, simple greenery is a classic and always looks refined. But if you want a little more pizzazz, a great option is to add a pop of color. You can tie on big red bows, red berries or even garnish with some ornaments.
Gift Boxes
This is the best budget-friendly option. If you are like me, you have plenty of empty Amazon boxes laying around. All I did was add some wrapping paper to a couple boxes of different sizes to make wrapped presents. I love the look of a perfectly wrapped Christmas package.
I wrapped up these 3 boxes using my gorgeous gingham paper and I'm always a sucker for big beautiful satin ribbon! For the price of wrapping paper and some ribbon I made a beautiful display of Christmas presents. It is a cheap way to make a big impact on your front porch.

Add Ornaments
Looking for another thrifty way to accent that porch with color? One of the best ideas is to use cheap ornaments. I used ornaments from the Dollar Store to fill these lanterns I already had.
Rustic lanterns are an easy decor item. You can make a similar one from wood. And just by filling them with ornaments they now make great farmhouse Christmas decorations. The ornaments add that extra pop of color that really jazzes up the lanterns for some holiday spirit.
Wreaths for the Front Door
Once again, wreaths are the perfect accent for holidays because they can really be interchanged and decorated according to the season. I added our joy wreath to the front door. I love combining the wood look with the greenery of my garland.
You can also use ornaments to create a colorful wreath for your front door. Or some flocked pine cones would make great natural wreaths if you want to try something different.
Anything in your holiday bin you haven't put up inside yet this year? Use your favorite holiday decorations to create a festive front porch. There are so many good options.
Toss Pillows
And I can't forget about adding some throw pillows from With Lavender and Grace. These are simply adorable and I love that they are suitable for indoors and outdoors. See more of my favorite Christmas pillows and decor here.
A colorful throw is another perfect addition for bringing in color and warmth to your front porch.
More Fresh Greenery
When the leaves are gone from the trees you just can't have enough fresh evergreens to add to your farmhouse Christmas décor. I found this cute fresh cedar sleigh arrangement at Target. I love the cute little vintage sled too. Fresh greenery is perfect for the outside because it will stay green all winter long!
I love how my porch turned out. Just by adding a few simple Christmas decorations and some lovely fresh greenery, I have created a beautiful and welcoming farmhouse Christmas porch.
Now if we could just get some snow to have a beautiful white Christmas! My outdoor holiday decor, especially the greenery and the twinkle lights would look gorgeous with a fresh layer of white snow.
I hope you enjoyed this farmhouse Christmas porch tour and that it inspired you with some budget-friendly porch decor ideas for your home! Have fun creating a gorgeous holiday front porch!
