Every year when the holidays roll around, I can’t resist adding a little Christmas cheer to our kitchen. It’s where we spend so much time. From morning hot chocolate to late-night baking sessions, so it only feels right to sprinkle in some festive touches.

I love finding simple ways to make the space feel merry without overdoing it. A few wreaths, a bit of greenery, and some twinkling accents can completely transform the kitchen into a cozy Christmas retreat.
Add Wreaths with Bows to Barstools
One of my favorite ways to bring holiday cheer into the kitchen is by adding small wreaths to the back of barstools. These mini boxwoods are the perfect size.

To attach them I just tied with wide satin ribbon. It’s such an easy way to make a big impact, and every time you walk into the kitchen, it feels festive and warm.
Drape a Garland Over the Hood Vent
If your kitchen has a hood vent, this is the perfect place for a touch of greenery. A simple garland adds instant charm and makes the space feel alive.

I went with a natural looking faux draping evergreen Keep it lightweight and secure it with removable hooks or ribbon for a damage-free hold. I also added small bottle brush trees to either side for a fun little touch.
Add a Boxwood Wreath for a Coordinated Look
To bring everything together, I added a boxwood wreath to the center of my hood vent. I tied it with the same ribbon I used on the barstools, creating a cohesive and elegant look.

The matching ribbon and wreaths tie the whole kitchen together and adds a touch of charm that feels effortless but intentional. It’s such a simple detail, but it makes the space feel styled and complete.
Style a Holiday Tray on the Island
For the island, I like to create a styled tray moment, something that feels intentional and balanced. Plus, when company comes over it is easy to just pick up and more.

Use a round vase filled with a Christmas pine stem arrangement, then add a couple of ceramic tree figurines and black candles beside it for contrast. The mix of greenery, ceramic, and candlelight adds texture and warmth without taking up too much counter space.
Create a Christmas Display on the Back Wall
On my back counter I like grouping smaller decorative items together instead of spreading them out. Think little trees in various heights, a Christmas countdown, artwork and even a reindeer figurine.

Grouping decor helps it feel collected and purposeful while leaving plenty of room for your everyday kitchen essentials.

Don’t Forget the Pantry
The pantry is an often-overlooked spot that deserves a little holiday magic too. I have these fun shelves in my pantry that I display dishes on. During Christmas I like to dress them up just a bit.

Adding a few small tree figurines and tucked-in pine stems brings in that touch of green and makes even the pantry feel part of the celebration. It’s such a simple way to keep the festive feeling going throughout the whole kitchen area.
Keep It Simple
The key to decorating a kitchen for Christmas is restraint. You don’t need to cover every surface. Just choose a few focal points and let them shine. A little greenery here, a soft glow there, and you’ve got a kitchen that feels festive, functional, and full of holiday spirit.

Carry the Cheer Throughout Your Home
Once your kitchen feels merry and bright, don’t stop there! You can easily add small touches of Christmas magic to other areas of your home too. Try draping garland along your staircase, adding a mini tree or wreath in your office, or setting a cozy candle and pine arrangement in the bathroom.
Even the bedrooms can get a festive refresh with soft twinkle lights or plaid throw blankets. A few thoughtful details in each space make your whole home feel warm, inviting, and ready for the holidays.
Happy Decorating!
