How to Style Neutral Floating Shelves

Floating shelves are such a great option when you need to add decor to your space. Not only are they fairly inexpensive to build, but they are also great for adding stylish focal elements to rooms with empty or even difficult-to-use spaces. I knew they would be a must-have for me, since I loved my kitchen floating shelves so much in my last house too. Plus, you can personalize and style floating shelves with anything you have around the house.

Textures:

When you are decorating neutral floating shelves using similar tones it is important to bring in various textures.

To bring in different textures you can use vases, beads, throws, books, candle holders or even stacking bowls.

Colors:

Try using different shades of the same color or tone pallet. For example, I used black, grey and charcoal.

Wood tones help to warm up a space and they tend to go with any color pallet. I love my mango boxes, they are great for adding height but they add so much warmth too.

Sizing:

Use various sized items to get height and dimension. This little stool is perfect to add height or you can stack some bowls or dishes. Adding dimension creates variety in your space and is much more visually appealing.

Simplicity:

Don't forget to keep the decor to a minimum. Overcrowding your space creates a cluttered environment which can be overwhelming. When in doubt, simplicity is best.
