Shop the House Challenge Week #4

I am sad to say this this the #4 and final reveal of our Shop the House Challenge.  This challenge has been so much fun and has pushed me to try new things.    If you are new to the challenge for the past 4 months myself and 5 other bloggers

A House and A Dog

have shopped our homes to transform a space.  I chose to redo my family room.

When we first moved in to our home this wall was so big we didn’t know what to do with it.  So my husband installed this awesome wainscoting.  I began to like the wall a little better but it was still bare and I was stumped as to what I wanted to do with it.

It began to be the collection spot for all of my random furniture I couldn’t give up.

And then it became the collection spot for all of my fun finds I refused to part with.  I have been wanting to tackle my family room for sometime now and this was the perfect push to get the ball rolling.

Are you ready to see it?

Welcome to my newly decorated family room!

The 1st months challenge I tackled the sitting corner

family room-3

I really wanted to bring the turquoise/aqua in from my kitchen to help bring the spaces together.

The next month I worked on rearranging this chest.

I felt like the gold mirror on the dresser made the space feel out of balance and it covered my wainscoting wall so I hung it on the wall in place of my shutters and found new things from around my home to replace it.

I love the mirror on the wall it brightens up this room even more.  I moved this sofa table in and it fits perfectly in this awkward corner, and it also helps to bring more color to this room!

family room-2 I wish I could say this room was done but…It isn’t… next task is to do a major overhaul on our TV cabinet.  I have been so torn as to what I want to do with it…but I think I may have finally figure it out….more details to come.
