Noni’s Spring Home Tour

I am so sad our spring home tours are coming to a close.  I have loved having a peek into so many homes around Utah, each with their own individual style and story. I sure hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have.  Here is our last, but certainly not least…….Noni’s spring home tour.  Noni has such an original eclectic design style and mixed with the cozy cabin feel of their home it makes me want to take my shoes off and stay awhile!  So, without further ado…. here she is!!

We bought our house 2 years ago. We were kinda desperate and jumped on this house because the previous sale fell through and it was actually under our price range. I looked at it once, and after 3 minutes knew we would get it. It needed a lot of work but that’s what we wanted. It was solid, I knew it wouldn’t have mold? and the high ceilings and wood floors were awesome.
We did our girls room first. We painted with just a brush. We sanded down the floors ourselves. (Something we will never do again!) restained and sealed them. I built them a new closet because it was needed desperately!

We haven’t done anything in the master yet, just bought a new carpet, new sink and toilet. We have plans involving a barn door in the master bath, wood flooring, and a new closet. (I made my headboard and still need to put the nail heads in)

The basement we worked on next. We just gutted the whole thing. It was bad. Popcorn ceiling, one boxed light, really bad washer plumbing, and old cat peed carpet. We painted everything white and installed tile. I used a scroll saw to cut out the details on going up our stairs.

To update the kitchen I  took the fronts off the cabinets for open shelving and painted everything. We changed out the sink because the old one was gross and the disposal was rusted and didn’t work.

As for the 1920’s bed frame turned bench…I got it at a yard sale in Midway for $30
The lady I purchased the bed from has had it for a long time, as it used to be her grandmothers. She had just built a new house and didn’t have anywhere to put it. I told her, “well you should make something with it!”  She replied with, “that’s what you are for my dear!” So I wanted to make something special because I feel like it was passed on to me even though I have no connection to the family. I absolutely love it in our home!

We are working on the bathroom right now and I’m so excited about it! (progress post here)
There will probably always be something for us to work on with this cabin but we love it and have enjoyed the process so far…
