My Kids Room Mood Boards

Building, Decorating & Remodel

Designing a whole house is quite the task to say the least! I was feeling a bit overwhelmed by the whole process and trying to keep track of everything. And then I remembered Mood Boards!! These things are lifesavers. It allows me to put everything in one location.

When I was designing my kids room mood boards I thought I knew everything I wanted. But when grouping items on a page, I realized I didn’t like certain things together. This has really helped me to make sure the rooms come together how I see them in my head. So let’s get to the mood boards!

My Younger Daughter’s Room

My younger daughter’s favorite color is black… yes, black. This implemented the challenge of how to bring in black without creating a dark, gloomy room. Wallpaper to the rescue! I found this wallpaper from Anewall. It is the perfect balance for bringing in black, but still having a bright, cheery room.

To lighten the space I will use white bedding with pink accents, as her other favorite color is pink.

Her room has high vaulted ceilings, so I wanted a tall bed to draw the eye upward. Her chandelier from Progress lighting will hang down from the vault and complete the space. Oh, I can’t wait to see this room done!!

My Oldest Daughter’s Room

My oldest daughter loves bright colors. Her favorite color currently is yellow. Bringing in yellow to a design can be a little tricky. I found this blanket at Anthropologie and it was the perfect piece to design her room around.

I was wanting to give her a dark green accent wall with some fun moldings. This blanket allows me to use green and bring in a touch of yellow. I also went with gold fixtures, as she okayed that as yellow.

She is also loving the mid century modern/boho style so this was the perfect way to bring it all into one space. Plus, bedrooms are a great way to bring in varieties of style.

Little Buddy’s Room

I love black and white decor. Charcoal ceilings have been calling my name lately, which is perfect for a little boy’s room!

I did add some wood tones to the space as well to warm it up just a bit. Since my little buddy is still young I wanted to keep his room neutral so hopefully it will age better with him.

I am sure things will change slightly as we begin decorating, but this is a great starting point. Having these mood boards together helps me to visualize a space and keep me organized.
