I love to make my house a home, to personalize it to my taste. However, it can be very expensive to decorate an entire house. So I had to come up with alternate means of low cost high impact decorating. Here are a few of my favorite $10 or less decorating tips to make a statement in your home.
Low Cost High Impact Decorating Tips
- Create a book page wreath. I love my book page wreath. It has been with me for a very long time now, and it is still one of my favorite DIY projects. It cost me about $6 and it took me 2 hours. You can see my video tutorial here.
- Revamp your lamps! Did you know updating your lamp shade can give your lamp a whole new look and feel? Therefore, I ended up wrapping twine around this dated lamp and cut off the ugly orange jewels hanging on the bottom. It especially adds a great natural texture and brought this beauty back to life.
I went the burlap route for this next lamp. First, I covered the lamp shade with burlap and then hot glued gathered pieces of burlap over the top. In addition, I used leftover paint for the base, giving this lamp an entire new look.
- Use up those pallets! Don't we all love a good pallet project? For these frames I used leftover pallets from our sod and painted them white to really bring out their rough texture. Consequently, this is a super easy way to create your own frames.
- Decorate with jars. I love to decorate with jars, any kind and all sizes. Clear jars, milk glass jars, mason jars... you name it! So I fill them with flowers or...
any kind of knick knacks I can find around the house, such as corks or old sewing spools.
I also love painted jars. It's an easy way to give an old jar a face lift for cheap. I used chalk paint to paint these jars and then lightly sanded over the lettering on the jar to make it stand out!
I hope you can use a few of these tips to spruce up your own home with some low cost high impact decorating!
