Summer is here and in full swing at our house!   I am always looking for a few things to do with my kids that we can all enjoy.  Making this sugar scrub was one of them!  My kids enjoyed helping me make this and then I washed all of their feet with it.  I learned that my oldest daughter and youngest son have very ticklish feet!! The best part about this sugar scrub is chances are you have all the ingredients to make it. Now let's get to making the easiest sugar scrub ever!

Sugar Scrub | Start at Home

Sugar scrub ingredients

You will need:

  1. 1 cup of sugar
  2. ½ cup of olive oil or coconut oil
  3. 10 drops of essential oils, I used lime
  4. food coloring
  5. jar to put your scrub in

Step 1

Pour your sugar into your mixing bowl. It can get a little messy if you are making it with kids, so be sure to do this in the kitchen or outside, or some other contained area.

Step 2

Add olive oil or coconut oil and mix it up. Keep in mind that if you use coconut oil you will probably need to melt it down before adding it to the sugar so it is in liquid form.

Step 3

Add food coloring.  I only used 3 drops and the color turned out lovely!

Step 4

Add essential oil. I used lime, but you can really use whatever scent you like. Peppermint or lavender would both be excellent choices.

Step 5

Mix everything up and pour it into your bottle. Using some kind of container with a spout or a funnel would be a good idea for this.

Last but not least ENJOY.  After I scrubbed my kids feet we painted our toe nails and they thought it was the best thing ever!

These also make such cute gifts!
