When we built the house we got the bonus room to sheet rock. Making it easier to finish one day. Well that day is here! Are you ready to see how the DIY dark and moody bonus room turned out?
For this space I wanted a durable flooring I wouldn’t have to worry about when my kids friends came over. NovaFloors LVT is perfect for that. I went with the French Almond Oak in the Dansbee Collection. I love the combo of dark and light color combinations. I am creating a dark moody room so I wanted something warm on the floor This LVT also has a wood texture to it. So if you didn’t know better you would think it was real wood planks.
Nova floors LVT is a floating floor. That means the planks link together but you are not nailing or gluing them to the subfloor. This is the first floating floor we have had and I am really liking it. Installing this LVT was so easy, as it has the underlayment attached to each plank. All you have to do it click and snap the planks together. I completed the entire room, over 1,000 sq ft, in less than 2 days.

DIY Dark and Moody Bonus Room Reveal
Here is it all complete. What a labor of love this room was, but to see it all done and come together makes it all worth it!
I love how the warm floors complement the dark cool walls, creating the perfect balance. This space is ready for lots and lots of parties and friends!
I didn’t want to add too much decor to this space. Less stuff equals less worrying when people are over. I used furniture, pillows, throws and the pouf to bring texture and personality to the space. To make it feel like home I added these pictures of our family.
Decorating around a TV can always be rough. To keep it simple I just added these 2 pictures to either side and a few decor elements to the TV console.
For this space I used my accessories to bring in lots of textures. You can shop my room below!
