DIY Christmas Front Porch

Nov 26, 2019 · Leave a Comment

Are you looking to add Christmas spirit to your front porch? Here are some step by step instructions on how I created mine.

Pick a Statement piece

I found this darling sign from Teal Barn Signs and knew I wanted it on my porch. I also knew my mom had a sled in her shed....I may have stolen it while she was at work. That's what daughters are for right?

Pick an Accent Color

Red screams Christmas to me. I love the bright pop of color it adds to any space. Since my sign is very red I didn't want to over do it. But, I also didn't want the sign to be the only red. Picking a color and then carrying it through out the area you are decorating helps to carry your eye through out the entire area. I added red with some ribbon in my garland, some red berries to my planters and the cute reindeer with just a touch of red.

Now it is Time to Decorate

  • First I added the sign!
  • Next I added the flocked trees (use the code brooke_startathome for 10% off) into my planters I use in the summer.
  • I used greenery and red berries to fill in around the trees to hid the dirt.
  • I then added the garland around the door. It did take 2 garlands to go around my door.
  • Next the wreath went up
  • Now that the basic items are in place I began adding the other decor items. Like the red ribbon in the garland around the door, the reindeer in the wreath, I wrapped empty boxes and placed them on the sled. I had 2 left over flocked trees that I added as fillers. I also found another flocked garland from a few years ago I wrapped around the bottom of the sled!
