Welcome summer and all of you from Honey n Hydrangea! Can you believe it is the first day of June? To start summer off right I have teamed up with an amazing group of ladies for a summer tablescape blog hop.
Believe me when I say you want to see everyone’s table, there is so much inspiration!
I don’t know about you, but sometimes when I look at a picture it gets a little overwhelming and I find my brain spinning trying to find out where to start. Today I thought I would break it down.
How to create a summer tablescape
1-Add main Items
I add my big items first. For this table I wanted to decorate around my lantern. I started with adding a table runner and then lantern.
Once I had those 2 in place I added my dishes. I always use placemats, sometimes they are round other times they are rectangular but they really help to accent your dishes
2-Balance your center item
Tablescapes can be a little difficult because it has to look good from every angle. After I have decided on my center piece I then add a slightly smaller item to each side. They don’t have to match, as you can see mine don’t. I try to keep them similar in size.
3-Fill in with smaller items
To fill in I used smaller vases with single flowers in them. I like to use various sizes to create different heights and fill in from every angle. I also added a mix of coffee mugs to bring in some more color and texture.
I added a few flowers in vases to my lantern as well.
4-Place Settings
I love to layer my place settings. I went with a round placemat to add texture. I used my polka dot plates for a fun pattern and then I used a solid colored plate.
To make place settings fun I like to add something fun as the icing on top. For this table setting I added peony buds to each plate.
5-Enjoy
Last but not least enjoy your summer tablescape. My girls love it when I decorate the table because that means lots of tea parties until it is time to put everything way!
Don’t forget to head over and see Mysha from Remington Ave. She has created a beautiful tablescape you don’t want to miss!
