DIY Snow Covered Pinecones

DIY & Crafts, Holiday Decorating & Crafts

With Christmas and snow coming soon, I am so excited to be sharing one of my favorite winter crafts today, perfect for cold days when you are trapped inside!  I am always looking for a fun craft to do with my kids that we will actually use. Bonus points if I can turn it into beautiful home decor! These DIY snow covered pinecones are perfect for that.  I did this craft with my little ones and surprisingly enough, both of their pinecones turned out just as good as mine!

If you like to do crafts chances are you have all the supplies for this at home. If you or a neighbor have a pine tree, then grab a bunch of pinecones and let’s get crafting!

You will need:

  • Kosher Salt – for snow
  • Hammer/meat tenderizer
  • Elmers Glue
  • Paint brush
  • Pinecones
  • Bowl

First, dump your kosher salt into a bowl and use your meat tenderizer to break up the salt.

After you have one side of your pinecone painted, lay it in a bowl and sprinkle your salt over the top.  A bowl or plate are very helpful in catching loose salt from spilling all over your counter top and floor. Continue doing this until you have covered your entire pinecone.

And one of the best parts of this project is that they can be reused.
