DIY & Crafts

We are winding down and getting ready to go back to school. My house is a scene of chaos and my hands are itching to get more work done. I’m very ready for my kids to head back to school and they are ready too. I love a routine and a schedule.  I am sad however, that summer is coming to an end, it is also my favorite time of year!

Today my girls and I created some much needed back to school organization.  Instead of myself just doing everything, I wanted them to help out.  I bought them hardboard clipboards and they painted them with Chalky Chicks chalk paint and then we used Frog Tape to create stripes! This tape works much better at creating clean cut stripe lines instead of normal blue painter’s tape, FYI!

Mornings before school can be a bit chaotic around here.  I like to head to the gym early so my hubby usually gets the girls up and gets them moving for when I get home.  I am hoping these chore charts will help them stay on task and know what they need to do before going to school. More work done before school allows them more freedom after school to enjoy play time or sports, and I’m a big believer in healthy, outdoor play time!

So I didn’t have to print a new one of these charts every week we laminated them, that way they can mark their jobs complete with a dry erase marker and after the week is over we can wipe it clean.  I have seriously LOVED having a laminator.  I laminate everything and it saves me so much paper.  If you are wanting one I like this one

I used command strips to attach everything to the wall, so I  can take it off without any damage.  I wanted to make the back of their doors functional.  The clipboard they painted now has their chore charts on them.  They also can use them to do homework.

Today I ran over to Target to see what I could find to finish up the back of their doors and look at this darling chalkboard (you can buy it here)  and I scored the octagon and triangle cork boards in their dollar section.

When I bought the wall file holder they were clear.  I painted them with Kilz spray primer and then used frog tape to create the pink stripes!  I found these cute floral folders at Walmart, these will be the first spot to hold all their school work.  One thing I don’t like about school is all the papers that come home and of course we have to keep it all!

Last but not least this fun magnet board.  I got it at a conference last year… and I can’t remember the brand but when I find out I will make sure to list it!
